Great Day!

Just finished the build sheet and ordered my 2003 R/T Dakota today!

It will replace the 331,000 km 1990 Dakota which has served me well.

Dealer says 6-8 weeks for delivery :(

But hey when it arrives spring will just be hitting!

Gonna be a wild summer for sure!

Congrats on the purchase. I'm just curious as to the
price you paid for it. How much was that bad boy? Did
you get the 3.90 rear end? Also, did you compare that
truck to a base Ram 1500 with a HEMI? Because my
friend was talked out of the 03' R/T and he ordered a
Ram 1500 with the 5.7 HEMI. Congrats again on the
purchase, and remeber to break it in. That means take it
easy the first couple miles.

ROD: Sorry forgot to mention that I considered looking at the 1500 series Ram with the hemi, but really prefer the slightly smaller truck which without a doubt easily outhandles the full size version.

....and somewhere down the road with a few modifications here and there and you can easily reach the Hemi's output.

I'm currently driving a tired 1990 Dakota Sport CC with 331,000 KM on the 3.9 V6.....I think I will be mesmerised enough for a while.

Interesting enough my last "New" vehicle was a 1981 Trans am with the 4.9 L 301 cubic inch turbocharged V8 from the factory (205 hp). It ran a stock quarter mile at only 16.1 That was the fastest vehicle from the big 3 manufacturers next to the corvette.

How times have changed!

I know the cash back will vary based on state, country etc..

I'm pretty sure the dealer marked it down as $2,000... could be wrong.

8 weeks less one day and counting :)

Either way, that is still a damn good deal. Almost hard to believe. Might be worth a trip to Canada for a deal like that. Comes out to about $19,300 USD. WOW!

Thanks Joe I thought the price was pretty decent.

Would love to hear from anyone out there with a 2003 R/T especially one with the latest "Stampede" package of ground effect....
They look quite minor in appearance changes on the net but would like to hear from someone who has actually seen them on a vehicle....

Also any performance numbers for the 2003 models?

I just paid 19,700 for my 2002 RC R/T about 8 months ago !!! The CC was almost 23,000. Man, looks like Canada is where we all need to buy our trucks. Would us foreigners have to pay some kind of import/export tax to get it back to the good ol' USA ?

You could of wanted till the fall of 03 and got a HEMI in the dakota. So you will see some old guy in a 4X4 whip your R/T lol. And for the guy with the dakota that runs 14.5 need to keep working on it my 97 ram 4X4 runs 15.3 (reg cab short box). thats on air filter, exhaust, and some other minor tweaks. bad thing is its got 179,578 miles on it.

Hemi this Hemi that.... any vehicle can run fast just ad a little cash!

KovzR6 your truck looks awesome! Think mine will be nearly identical!

Sort of surprized they got rid of many of the decals... guess that way changing from the appearance only Stampede to the R/T is just that much easier for the factory.

Are ya posting more pics later today :)

Nice Pic's.
Judging by the area and the amount of snow in your pictures I am assuming your are somewhere around the Pickering area. Do you know of any RT owner groups that meet in the area.
The majority of us meet at Haugens on Wednesday nights in Manchester.
P.S. Does the R6 ever go to Ringwood on Sunday mornings if so look for my Blue R1.

my thoughts??? its great!! its everything i had expected. really comfortable.

and for performance. i cant tell you. the day i got it we had 2" of snow. it saw one day of decent weather (when those pics were taken) and then we got 6" of snow last night. it was paralyzed until the snow plow came down my street. this thing really really sucks in the snow. i know i will be getting some crappy rims and good snow/ice tires for next winter. and im breaking it in slowely. its only got 400km on it so far. i dont want to stomp on it for about 1500 -2000 km

Ah yes the breakin period....

Well remember during breakin the motor should still be taken to its maximum revs but just for short bursts... otherwise those bearings just won't be seated in the exact place you would like them :)

Remember save those short bursts for when the Fords are beside you... a short burst should be plenty :)

Keep us posted!

bought mine new in 2000. black r/t club cab.
I drive it hard daily...no mercy...it's stout.
first thing i did was floor the hell out of it leaving the dealer...and again....and again...generally it's been floored daily for 3.5 years.

62000 miles i absolutely love driving it still.

keep it tuned and clean...tire pressure exact. Zaino it....62000 miles i get comments on it pretty much everyday.(it's the zaino not many comments when not clean).

when you get mods for it get the best don't skimp. delphi r/t forum is prob best place to learn.

don't put no scuzzy flowmaster on it.....mbrp or spintek.(mbrp is in canada) is good..luv my mbrp..no cab drone.

get the r/t service manual.

you'll find the r/t has quirks (wheel hop) i luv it when mine does it.

it'll tow about 4900 lbs with airbags and hitch.

corners at .85 with stock suspension(camaro about .87).

lucky you.
