Which is t-stat is better quality? And can someone tell me why the 3923 autolite spark plugs are the best. I always thought going hotter not colder gave better performance. also what is the correct spark plug gap with stock ignition on a 02 ram 1500 4.7l engine.

From my research it appears that the Robertshaw is a better stat, and at $7 is not any more expensive (Autozone). As far as the plugs go, the Autolites are in favor because of their price. However, if you look at the NGK compared to the Autolite you will see a much better constructed plug. The Autolites come with caps that have to be screwed on and are prone to loosening, and you have to screw the washer on. With the NGK, it is all one piece and ready to go out of the box. The Autolites are $.99 each and the NGK's are about $2 each. Personal preference, but I was running the Autolites and switched to NGK's. You can run a hotter plug but then you are going to be prone to pre-detonation (pinging), and that is very hard on the motor. I have had great results with the colder plug, including smoother idle on my 01 4.7.

The part number for the NGK is ZFR6F-11 and the gap is .040.
