Hi,
I have a 1995 dakota 2x4 with the 318 v8. I came to a stop, went to go, and nothing. The truck would not move, though the engine was running fine. The transmission sprayed fluid everywhere. I am a bit of a newbie, but sort of need to know where to begin. Not sure where the fluid leaked from ,but seems to be leaking right underneath...the radiator. I know, weird, But it is defintly tranny fluid, and defintly leadking. Any help would be gretly appreciated... thanks.

Maybe the line to your tranny cooler, must be an auto.

It was the line to the cooler thanx alot for your help. I love these trucks but have no mechanic based skills. I will buy a book and start to learn!

Glad I could help ya!
I've never even owned an automatic tranny either! Not that theres anything wrong with them, and I know sometimes there is no option otherwise.
an ounce of preventative maintenance is worth a ton of cure!

you can try to adjust the bands, one you can do from the outside but it is a pain to get to, the other you have to drop the pan and the valve body but it is a lot easier to adjust. when you do the internal adjustment, you can see the band you are adjusting, check the ears on the band and make sure they aren't tearing off. If they are you have to rebuild the tranny. If you have any ? I would ask Wayne at www.apsprecision.com he is the man with the dodge trannies.
