Message: i was wonderin if anyone had feedback on superchargers for the 5.9 and/or 408 motor. in truck'n the guy was runnin a powerdyne at 6psi, and ive heard theyre a pain to tune. but ive never heard any bitchin about paxton or vortech. then again kenne bell looks good with that "immediate boost" they talk about. and ill definitly need an intercooler.... texas weather dont feel right if its not 120 degrees. any feedback would be great.

Im gona stick with my KB thou.

Message: shane- the stroker kit is well worth it... drinks gas, but hell we're used to it anyway right?. i might add an MSD ignition just to make sure to eliminate detonation, even tho i hear the kb's are good about controlling that. whats the specs on ur truck?

Message: 03black6.7L~~ what part of texas do you live in?? and how much does a stroker kit cost? i've been lookin at the kb but right now the procharger p-1sc with intercooler is lookin NICE, they guarantee a 65% increase or better. have you heard anything bout it? if you live anywhere near houston maybe we can meet up and race(not for slips of course kuz u'll probly win) but maybe a few bucks.
anyway keep rollin hard and killin lightnings...

yea that procharger looks damn nice, but i wanna avoid runnin oil lines if i can.
if you arent religious with changing your oil every 3k miles or less, serious s**t goes down in ur super. kb and powerdyne are self-contained, plus with the twin-screw kb im already at max boost at 2k rpm, while you've gotta wait till about 4500 or 5k. im edgin towards a kb as long as it goes with all my mods well.
anyone out there have a paxton, vortech, or procharger? feedback would be great

Message: http://aec.servebeer.com/users/polar/ Thats my website were u can check out my truck. I have the optimizer 1 but as soon as it gets out of storage its getting a new FMU and some other stuff. According to my know all tech :) after the the fmu is in were gona replace them 2 aux injectors with two big ones, the fmu will be able to operate them independitly creating a harmonius AF ratio with 10 PSI and it wont need water or an intercooler. With just the SC the truck ran mid-high 14's on the eagle RSA's. with 6PSi of boost.

Message: 03Black6.7L you should have built your 6.7 for the SC, what is your compression ratio now? when i get my engine done its will have low compression so you can run 20 PSI and not blow out the gead gaskets :) just something for you to consider. If you wana run alot of boost KB makes 2 size blower units 1.5L and a 2.2L the bigger one obviously is more effecint and flows more CFM.

Message: you don't want to run much less than 8.5:1 compression... and you will have a lot of work to do if you want to run more than 12psi... as in O-ring and stud the heads, billet crank, forged everything... there are a few guys running 15-16 psi in a 408 and puting 570-650 hp to the wheels... but realise you WILL have a heck of a time tuning it. probably need a FAST system. With the Kenne Bell forget about using the OPT II with any mods, you will need a knock system (J&S safeguard is the best around..for about $425 at hughes engines) and a fuel system... probably Aeromotive Digital unit your best bet.. $250 give or take a few. for a blown 408 like this just get $10k and have fun.

Message: I have talked to Dan... but the rebuild is not everything... you need the 23 degree 5 pinion planetary gears, the new drum that can take more clutches and 15 springs... does he use a different leverage arm for the second gear band. if he does make sure he dosen't use a 1.5 hemi arm, it will shift good but will destroy the band in a few thousand miles. I really like the torque converters that APS uses, higher torque multiplication, less parasotic loss, everything welded and brazed, not just bent.. and they build everyone by hand and are usually with in 50 rpm of what you ordered... but yeah it is expensive.

Message: engine knock is from preignition... basically the fuel/air charge is ignited before the piston passes top dead center... and this effectively trys to force the piston in the opposite direction of rotation, this exponentially increases the forces the engine endures... which is why pistons explode, cranks and rods break, blocks are split, more commonly you blow head gaskets. The knock detector is designed to detect this and retard the timing to compensate for it... thus saving the motor... a properly tuner supercharger is not harmful to an engine any more than normal driving. If you want a good explination check out www.JandSsafeguard.com this is the best knock detector I have found.

Message: 6.7, why do you want more torque than what you already have? Scott Q gave me a ride in his truck, and it will smoke the tires untill he lets off the gas (well into overdrive), and will spin the tires at 1/4 throttle (and thats with 295/40ZR20 tires) . its freaking nuts, and that is with a paxton. put a kenny bell on a 408, and you will not be able to drive it.

Message: you have to think + ,there are cars that weigh less and have more power instance = 2000lb vega with 500 hp and 9" slicks launches just fine.
save 50lbs on heads , 30 or so moving the battery to the far back of the bed, 30 in A/C removal and a few more smaller items thats just over 100 lbs off the front if you replace that weight far rear as u can get it. then go with some bfg DR's 305's or 315's, you could easily get a decint launch off the street. Even if you dint you could wait till you get acroos the light and nail it in 2nd walk right past bout anything

Message: shawn, a vega is a car. it has A LOT better weight transfer than a truck (expecially if you have a CC)
saving 100lbs off the front isnt going to help matters on a 4000lb + truck. a VW bug, yes a truck, no. you can take 200lbs off the front and put it in the bed, and it sill will not do a bit of good.
i wouldnt be suprised if you nailed it from a 50mph roll, and it spun the tires.
i know a guy with a 408 and a kennybell blower on a 4x4 ram. he can spin all 4 tires for 30', and in 2wd can spin them for as long as he wants. and he has 35" tall tires.

as far as the supercharger goes, shouldnt one made for a 5.9 just sit on top of a 408 no prob? cuz if its a kb itd have to sit where the manifold is. if not i can always get the custom work done on a centrifugal like a procharger... seems like everyone and their momma has a powerdyne these days.

The KB blower sits of to the passanger's side and uses piping to the TB. It probably could be made to sit on the 4bbl. m1 manifold if you have the hood clearance.
