I see now that Chevy will soon be offering the Colorado, as competition for the Dakota. I knew it was a matter of time before the competition did something to be able to compare their small, wussy trucks to the dakota. It does appear that they will have a better V6 engine than the Dakota: performance wise, However - a V8 model hasn't been shown as of yet, meaning there will be no question as to who has the balls of compact trucks. I hope dodge can remedy the V6 problem in the coming years, to squash any sales of chevy's all new Colorado.

Not to knock the 3.9, but I think it should be replaced with the 3.7.

oh no, i definetly agree with you about replacing the 3.9L. Thats what i got and it is one slow mofo when you add a Club cab and 4X4 to it. I am worried that chevy's 3.5L I-5 is gonna be better than the 3.7L offered by Dodge. Chevy stated that their engine has the most of any V6 in its class, meaning more than 215HP of the 3.7L.

Hmm...its gonna be hard cause chevy does have that 4.3 liter v-6 and there the ones with more hp in the v-6 class

Maybe if the Dakota does get downsized it will shed a few hundred pounds. Add to that cranking the output to about 75 HP/L and you'd be pushing 280 HP in a 3600-3700 lb. truck. Wishful thinking.

From my understanding the new Colorado and Canyon are not even going to have a 6 cyl option!! They are going to use a 4 and 5 cyl. variant of the 4.2L six in the trailblazer. 2.8L 4 and the mentioned 3.5L 5 cyl. the 3.5L will have 220 hp. and 225 tq. The 4 will have 175hp and 185 tq. They must have something up their sleeve to just offer these.
