I have a 94 Dakota, ext cab, V-8, 4X4. I recently had a nightmare of an experience having the trans replaced. It took over a month for this place to fix it, a Multistate Transmission facility. Anyway, after it was done, it seemed ok and I was supposed to take it back 2 weeks ago for them to look at the trans to make sure everything was ok. I haveny had a chance, but I did change my oil today and I noticed that the shield that covers the trans, right behind the oil pan (Im not a mechanic, so thats the best I can describe it), is only partially covering whatever the device is that is inside the trans at that point. I can see moving parts when my engine is running. Am I supposed to be able to see this? It was not like that before, Ive had the truck 4 years now and I never noticed it. Im very hesitant to go back, I dont want to lose my truck again for another moment!!!

Mike

put it back on... you don't need dirt and sheet getting in there and messing anything up... not really fragile but just another tranny problem to avoid...
