Message: Tonya,
What kind of rear end is in your dak? Could you take yours out and post a pic of it?
Why did you tack this on an old 4.7 thread?

Message: The sludge you guys are talking about isn't really sludge at all. It's just oil vapors and water vapors that are mixing and collecting in the cold oil fill tube. It's not the sign of a failure at all.
Dodge finally redesigned the PCV system in the very latest models. '06 has the PCV valve relocated to the rear of the left head, and the vent tube is in the usual place on the rear of the right head. The oil fill tube is different, as it no longer has a PCV hole in it. It shouldn't be too hard to convert an older one to this design using factory "off the shelf" parts. The trickiest part would be modifying the vent tube to eliminate the "T" section that went to the other head. Look at a new Dak or Ram 4.7 in person and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Message: What do you mean, this isn't sludge ? I'd think sludge was anything in the oil that doesn't flow like oil, and could clog an oil passageway or pump. Are you using some different technical definition ?

Message: kinda jumped into this whole performance thing just the other day by ordering heads intake exhaust and a programmer and i couldnt seem to find a y pipe for a 2000 4.7 anywhere do you think it would be cost effective to have a muffler shop build me a smoother flowing transition piece on my y pipe with a high flow cat for 300. thanks
