Message: I just bought a 95 dodge dakota 2wd 5.2L sport xcab. The truck had been sitting for a while with only 41000 miles. I did all the basic maintenance replaced plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, serpintine belt. Anyways when accelerating the trucks seems to sputter a little bit, and it doesnt seem to have the pick up and go like it should. Maybe O2 sensor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Message: I just recently bought a 96 dakota 4x4 5.2 manual that occasionally at low rpms primarily in 2nd and 3rd sound's like their are exhaust gases igniting between the manifolds and cat. I don't know if your experiencing this but if you know anything about it could ya lend me any suggestions? Greatly appreciated, oh I replaced the down stream O2 sensor also... didn't cure the problem.. and the Check engine light is on. Possibly the cat?

Message: The best clue I hear is that you said that the truck was "sitting for a while". Try STP fuel injector cleaner (black bottle), or another brand of gas dryer to dry up the water in your fuel tank. Try a tank of premium gas, because the present gasoline has probably lost its punch from age/storage.

Message: I'm also having a simular problem. When accelerating up an incline the truck "sputters" It doesn't seem that the engine is effected at all.
It only seems to happen when the O/D is on. When I turn the O/D off and the truck's RPMs increase the "sputtering" seems to stop.
Anyone have any ideas???
