I have finally decided to do something about the 318 I have sitting in the garage. I have a 93 Dakota with the 3.9 V-6 and I want to throw in a 318 out of a 85 RamCharger, I don't know if the engine would bolt up to the current 4sp/od trans that is in their now. But the thing I would really like to know is if the 318 2bb out of the RamCharger is a 2 bolt or 4 bolt design. I would love to put a 4 bbl on it/ other performance add ons, but if it is a 2 bolt I don't think I will do anything with this motor. Can anyone tell me if the engine is a 2 bolt or a 4 bolt design?

Two or four bolt what? Main bearings? They are all two bolt mains on the 318. Will hold up fine with a four barrel. It should bolt up to the V6 bellhousing.

Dude, you will be going majorly backwards in Mopar evolution by doing that.
The Dak with a mag V6 will spank the same Dak with a LA (all small blocks prior to Magnums in 93) 318 in it.
You have to understand that the mag engine is much more advanced in terms of making power than the LA.
The only way I would suggest you even consider a LA series engine instead of any mag (even a 6) would be a full out race motor. Big cam, good intake, lightweight pistons bla bla bla...
Anyway, Im sure you get the idea.
I have built many LA engines and it took a whole lot just to get em up to a mags stock performance level.

Hey FazDak, How many LA's did you build? Two? Half you guys make a stock motor slower. You stick a gear in your truck and pull a hole shot on someone and think it's fast. An old LA in a Dak should easily turn mid 14's. Of course maybe that explains why most of you can't get the R/T's out of the 15's .Amen
