Subject: stalling/tran /help! IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could help. I own a 00'4x4 dak sport and I have two major problems. My check engine light came on and the code was P1784. My tranny is real hesitant when shifting into reverse or 1st gear. The other problem is that it stalls on me. On a cold start when I pull up to a light my rpm's drop to nothing and she stalls. Sometimes it doesn't stall but the rpm's drop down below 500 and then shoot up close to 1000, they kind of bounce around. after the truck is warmed up it doesn't stall. Any help on this???

Message: you have a trouble code thats dealer specific
2 things come to mind
when you shift ,the bands are not adjusted there is a band for first and reverse . the stalling at lights is a torque converter lockup problem , and thats probably where your code is coming from .
your best bet is to let the dealer mess with the bands , and the solenoid if it is the problem , might as well be left in there hands as well since you have to take the transmission pan of to service both items

Message: hey thanks for the advice. i had a feeling it was the torque convertor but was unsure when i saw everything about the pcm. By the way I am not sure what the bands are, can they be explained further?
