Hey guys, I noticed that when I labour my truck in say 2nd or 3rd gear (this was found by accident) when I should be in first, I heard a squeeling coming from waht sounded like the serpentime belt...There is a brand new belt on there..Any ideas what this noise is?? And any ideas on how to cure it without starting off in the wrong gear!!

Truck details in sig..

My buddy had the same problem with his '99 Sport 5.2 5spd.
When he would take off, you would here a squeel just as he was letting off the clutch. And sometimes between 1st and 2nd.
Took it into the dealer it turned out to be a defective Pressure Plate. Unfortunatly a wear item and not covered under warrenty.
Hope that helps!

if the tensioner arm is stiff ,remove from the truck ,take the pully off and soak the tensioner in diesel fuel over night . prefferably at room temp. next day clamp it in a vise and work it a little let it soak for a few more hours ,and then put it back on the truck .

My 01 auto has a similar squeal and replaced the belt thinking it was slipping. While changing the belt I noticed the tensioner was fairly stout. About how much pressure should it apply to the belt?
