my 03 QC dakota has a 4.7 and its been in the shop for a few weeks getting tricked out. i put 22 inch rims and large tires on it, anyone have an estimate at how fast i could go w/ them ?(tire speed rating not the truck) ive seen many programmers that will also allow programing of up to i believe 136mph

Ok i have not tried the key trick to get past the speed limiter, but to "Modian" it will not hurt anything, remeber your starter will not engage when the truck is in gear (Auto) or when the clutch is out (Stick) so doing the key trick wont hurt your starter or flywheel,
To people who have tried this trick, does the headlights also go out?
And have you ever tried turning you key slightly back from the on position, i accidently did it the other day and if i just turn it back to the point where it is about to click back a notch the radio and all other accerories die, but the motor still runs, kinda weird

No headlights stay on, all other lights inside go out, then everything comes back except the speedo agter about 1 sec delay.

My Dakota can go to 117mph. I have seen some dakotas that can only go 98mph

I heard it was the QC's that had the lower limit. Mine has been flashed up to 256, I don't expect to run into it.

My 2003 QC 4X4 4.7 has seen 115 MPH and have not hit any speed limiter. It's deffinitely NOT 98 MPH!
But I assume it shuts off at 117 like every other Dodge I've driven recently.

Well mine wont even go 1 mph inless you push it. I just changed the cam and I cant get it to run right, I think it has something to do with the computer being dumb and it cant adjust the timing for that cam. Does anybody have a solution?
It is a 93 5.2 318

98 R/T with no other mods but ram air.

Hey Cota? What do you mean by not running right? How hot is the cam? You can get away with mods up to a point, but if the cam is too hot, you'll need computer mods.

I'm not sure what he's talking about either.
Cam shouldn't have anything to do with the speed limiter.
Unless he was being funny, i.e. that his truck wont even go 1 MPH since he swapped the cams. It must be running VERY bad if that's the case. He better check cam timing!

well it is poping and banging like the spark plug wires are crossed but they are not. the cam is only about a 178 so it is not that "hot" it is a turbo cam.
It runs bad enough that I can't shift it into drive with out it dieing and it won't run in less it is reved above about 1800 rpm.
As for as I know the computer just has a factory timming setting and I don't know how to get around that if that is the problem.
I put new springs in it with about .570 lift and i have a new timing chain and gears and it is set on the middle mark. But it probably doesnt have anything to do with that. ????

My 2000 r/t ext. cab does at least 120.. it's a shame that's where the speedometer stops. 15.6 1/4 mile @ 88mph... stock
