Message: Let me know on how well your install went. Did you have to make any mods to them? Any suggestions on how to make it easier?

Message: Slider - I've got the Gibson SS headers on my 2001 5.9L. I had the Dealer install them along with an ASP under drive pulley. Total labor was about $300. Performance increase was good.
You will also like the way they look!!
Be sure to retighten the header bolts several times after several heat/cool cycles. You won't believe how loose they will get as a result of the exhaust gasket shrinkage.

Message: dakaty, do you have any problems with clearance between the header and the brake booster? right now on my truck there is a set of flow tech headers on it. the one tube bends up right by the brake booster, really close to it. it never touched it until i started fixing the motor up. now when i give it gas it is hitting it on the booster and has cracked it, thats why i bought the gibsons, better quality also.

Message: No clearance problems with the booster. I would think our engine bays are similar.

Message: I have had the Gibons headers on now for 10 months and they are great. It is a pain to tighten 4 of the bolts and more of a pain to torque them. It is tight on the right side, but they will fit without having to remove anything thing.

Message: What Ted said is exactly right. I just got done installing a set of Gibson headers on my 96 5.2. Some of the bolts are impossible to even get a socket on, much less a torque wrench. I had to use an open end hand wrench and guess at the torque, and I'm afraid I didn't get them all up to spec. Thats the only thing though, they lined up perfectly everywhere and seem to have plenty of clearance all around.

Message: I like mine. No leaks, although I've heard others have had a problem. Why didn't you spend the extra $70 and get stainless?
