i have a 92 dakota with a 318 magnum with 115,ooo miles on it. plugs, airfilter have been changed.
Lately its been idling funny. it will be running just fine but then the rpms drop down to about 200. it stays like that for a few minutes then goes back up again. any body got an idea about this.

The first thing to do is clean your throttle body. Take the air cleaner off and look down into the throttle body while holding the throttle wide open. There will most likely be a considerable build-up of carbon around the throttle plates. Take some carb cleaner and blast it away. Start the engine (hold the throttle wide open because it will be flooded) and it more than likely will idle correctly. If this don't fix it, check for a lazy/inopperative IAC motor or a sticking EGR valve.

My 99 was doing the same thing and the TB was clean!!! Dodge found the plenum gasket sucked in to the intake and it sort of fixed it.. The final fix was a reprogrammed PCM.. Get the dodge dealer to do a search on it and program it in..This was my fix..
Hope this helps!!
