Subject: Hurst Shifter fits 2001 4.7s IP: Logged
Message: For anyone wanting to know, the Hurst Comp/Plus shifter PN3910155 will fit 2001+ dakotas w/ the NV3500 tranny. All you need to do is follow the instructions posted in this message thread.

The good thing is that you dont have to bend the shifter stick. Instead you must adjust the two bolts connecting the stick to the shifter tower.
However the stock rubber plate that seals the hole in the tranny tunnel will need to be cut to accomadate the taller shifter tower which is no big deal. Just cut a larger hole in the flemsy rubber. Also the stock shifter boot will not fit properly. I had to turn mine upside down to fit over the new stick. Ill eventually get a new boot but the stocker will due for now. Hope this helps anyone wanting to know.

Message: mines about a half inch from the dash in third also. The gear stop bolt is adjusted so the stick wont hit the dash.

Message: Or the 03's? Sorry, new to the Dakota crowd, and I'm not familiar with the dash/console/shifter configurations for the earlier years yet. Can someone pass a pearl or two this way? TIA....
