Subject: Porting 2002 4.7 TB, help! IP: Logged
Message: I'm going to port my TB with my dremel soon, I'm just wondering if I'll be okay to thin out the shaft. Will this cause any problems? Can I go so far as to even remove the assembly and thin the shaft down completely and use shorter screws? Am I asking for trouble?? Anyone tried this?

Message: I just ported my TB on my 2002 R/T. Its easy to get the shaft out, just take the screws out of the blades and slide it out. I didnt thin the shaft, only the extra amount of screw ends that stick out the back side. The shaft is solid steel and you would have to grind it with a 4" grinder if you didnt want to spend hours on it. Although some people do grind it flat, just be sure to leave enough threads for the screws to grab on to. What would be nice is if these companies that sell TB's would sell just the flat shaft and thinned blades....Ive asked several and none of them will.
