Message: Anyone have any pics or info (prices) of the 2003 lower body clading offered on the R/Ts? I checked with my dealer about a month ago; he had it in his computer, showed that it was 7 pieces (if I remember correctly) but didn't have a price or a release date, just knew that it was late availability. Dodge has a pic on their site but it's a little hard to see much detail, looks nice though from what I can tell.

Message: i was told any R/T coming off the production line after DEC 15 will have the new package. so it will still be a few weeks till you see it on the lots. if they have any on the lots.
why else would they raise the MSRP $800 if it was an option?

Message: darcy - Wrong!!, It will be standard on 2003 Dakota R/T's. Check 4adodge.com, It says "late availability". Lower body side cladding is listed as standard.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but I purposely bought my 2003 R/T early to avoid the ground effects for the reason(s) 93venom stated.
I am planning on installing the Hotchkis TVS and I wish to avoid having the lower body side cladding be ripped from the vehicle over speed bumps. I am sure that it will be fine with the R/T's stock suspension. Besides, it is just an appearence group. In fact, the lower body side cladding will hurt aerodynamic effects, and your adding that little extra weight.
I Prefer to build a performance truck. I guess Dodge is banking on the fact that the R/T will be more appealing to younger drivers that like the street/ricer look.
Yes, that's correct, the R/T's basic price increases $500 U.S. with the body side cladding. Get a 2003 R/T now, without the cladding, if your thinking of lowering it, or you will just be throwing away $500.
Anyway - which ever you choose - just enjoy your R/T!!

Message: 2003 Dakota R/T models feature Stampede Appearance Group body-color cladding and 17"x9" chrome cast aluminum wheels.
Body-color front fascia with cladding
Body-color rocker panel cladding
Body-color front and rear pickup box cladding
Body-color rear bumper
Body-color wheel flares
that was taken right from www.dodge.com 's site
and i dont care i plan on lowering it another 2"/3". the cladding looks like it only adds about 2-3 inches to the body. its gonna be a lowrider if i do it.
and for speed bumps, who cares!!! im used to it anyways. right now i got a 91 cougar thats lowered. the body is about 5 1/4 inches off the ground. and i have dragged across a few speed bumps. if i lower the DAK it shouldnt be lower than my car is right now

Message: The ground effects aren't THAT drastic...I mean its not like an Extreme where you got a dramtic change from stock trim...I could barely even tell there was ground effects in the picture, the bumper looked lower but the side didn't look that bad. Trust me if you lower it 2/3 your not gonna scrape.

Message: darcy- I did'nt mean to come off sounding upset. I just want to make sure the correct information is put out. Best Regards
NewR/T- I agree that the lower cladding is not that drastic. You just have'nt seen the speed jumps we have here in the Atlanta Georgia area(they are drastic, probably for good reason).
I drove a Standard Cab Red Dakota R/T with the lower body cladding at my friendly Dodge Dealer. It scraped a little in stock configuration with the body side cladding. I hit a speed bump without slowing down(my mistake). The front and rear cleared just fine, but the side scraped when the nose of the truck dived down after the front cleared the speed bump.
If I would take those speed bumps while slowing down, then I am sure it would not scrape (kinda like driving a Corvette, you need to ease over the speed bumps).
I figured if I lowered 2/3, then I would likely run into a problem where I drive. That is the whole reason I decided to go for the Regular cab R/T without the cladding and then I can lower it in the future without the risk of scraping(hopefully this theory is good, as I haven't seen many posts with problems like this with the Dakota R/T being lowered 2/3).
I plan to approach those speed jumps at the proper speed. I am just giving a suggestion for people to think about before they buy, from my personal experience.
I do think, however, that the lower cladding looks good..its just not for me. The truck has great lines without out and its all about how each person wants to individualize their ride...
