Message: My wife has a '03 Grand Marquis LSE . It's got the same set-up with a few less HP , ( 239 hp & 287 ft lbs VS 302 HP & 310 FT lbs). It will run mid 6's 0-60 and about 15.9 in the 1/4. The tractron control is great and makes it run the same times all day with any driver.

Message: Mid 6's mabye with a supercharger, those things are logs the police edition can only run in the 7's and it has like 280 hp. As for the Marauder its bound to become a ghetto crusier like the big body impalas of late.

Message: I did a ride-and-drive in the Marauder for work. I have to say..for a $35-40K grandpa's greased lightninh, I was impressed. I really didn't expect it to move like it did. We were allowed 30 minutes on a 3 mile closed oval. I had it to 60 on the first lap, 75 second lap, and 85 third lap. Going from 60-80, the car honestly sounds awesome. Felt like I was driving a Nascar around Daytona. But then I realized this car is destined more for the Florida crew. As far as construction, take a police issue crown vic, throw some merc badges on the outside and a nice leather interior in it, and you've got a marauder. Same braking system, same engine (in some cases), same PCM calibration. Its fun, but not $35K fun. Steve, wheres that viper for $35K, I've got some spare cash!

Message: my mechanic/best friend works for hawk lincoln/merc in oak lawn...those things are selling like hotcakes. $35000 is steep, but for the performance (everyone knows the engine, and it utilizes cobra exhaust), comfort (ill take that interior over my dak and monte carlo anytime) and style (come on now, the thing is pimp)..its worth it. and whoever said you cant 'burn rubber' up there, check again...we had no problem roasting those poor little bfg's off the rims.

Message: Still I say there is something not right with it. It is the same basic size and weight as a Dakota R/T. It has similar transimssion and overall gear ratios when you consider it rides on 26" tall tires naot 28" tall tires. It has better weight distribution and lower drag then a R/T and over 50 HP more. Still the times for most stock R/Ts I've seen are better then the stock Marauder. Plus even a loaded out leater Club Cab R/T is still probably 8 grand less. The Marauder is cool, but it should be a $30,000 car tops, it's as much as the supercharged Cobra, and more then a Lightning, yet regular Grand Marquis don't cost more then regular Mustang G/T's. The Mustang gets the better motor AND a blower (along with syling, wheel, suspension, and interior upgrades) for the extra money, the Marauder only gets the motor (and same other extras.)

Message: My father-in-law has one, and to me it's pretty quick. He bought his in June 2002, and I bought my new 2002 CC R/T the following month. He's ridden in my R/T and claims that it will probably take his Marauder, but I think he was just trying compliment my truck. I keep "joking" to him that we should line'em up somewhere and see how they will do (he and I are not, by any means, experienced racers) but he has never really responded to my request. My brother-in-law says he will take me up on the offer, but of course, his dad won't let him drive his baby!!!!!!

Message: If you are going to cut the Mercury Marauder up,at lest spell it correct.{Mercuray Merauder???}
The Marauder has only 281 cu in's and weight's way more than a R/T. The Marauder is one sweat looking ride that run's good,with style and can hold 5 grown up's very comfortably.{try that in a R/T} Why some dip stick's would want to compare a Marauder with a truck that has power from a old Van is beyond me. Message: Why bother spelling it correctly? The Marauder does not weigh more, certainly not more then a CC R/T. Still with 50 more HP it should be able to weigh 500 pounds more and still run equal times! But it doesn't even do that, it's even slower and over $10,000 more. I bet even a 360 4x2 Quad Dakota would beat one, weight more, and seat 6 adults comfy. Even a new fully loaded 4x2 Laramie Quad Hemi Ram is $5000 less then the Mercury, and will easilly pull on one. I was pretty interested in the Mercury until I saw the performance times and the price. It should be a full second faster, and cost $5000 less, maybe ford is back to the old cobra days of not delevering advertised HP.

Message: COME ON MARK....Your truck is the light's Dakota ever made + U have 318 cu in's. Oh you mean your truck is faster from A to B or your truck is faster on top end? Do you have a 5 spd? Do you have 392 gears? Do you have any beer and nuts?
All I ever hear from car guy's that BIG is better..Wink wink. There is no substitute for cubic inch's they say.The trouble with all you R/T guys is that you think you have a HOT truck because you have a BIG one. CONFESS CONFESS you don't like to be beat by a little one. HeHeHe
Mark you still have the best d*m Dakota web site there is,so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Message: Actually Spongebob my first Dakota was a 93 RC, 2wd, 5.2, auto, with 3.55LS. Stock for stock it wasn't even close to my current R/T. Pure stock w/o a full break in and a passenger it ran a 15.9. That was good for a 93 truck, and with another 2000 miles and loosing the passenger would have probably put it around 15.5. Still I did get the break in done and lost the passenger, but by that time it had a few mods and ran a best of 14.9 at Sears Point, awesome stuff. Although I no longer live near a 1/4 mile track, I ran the R/T over that same ground I lived everyday with on the 93, and the R/T is faster stock then the 93 was with light mods. Now that the R/T has the PCM and a few other simple freebies it's even better. So I've lived with both trucks for a long time and am soon moving on again, I have a 2wd 1500 Hemi Ram coming. The only performance problem with the new truck is that it is the Quad Cab and might be too heavy for a 1/4 mile improvement on the Dakota. If it's in the 14's I'll be happy, if not, more mods!

Message: Like I said I thought the Merc would be pretty cool but really expected a 300 HP rear driver that wasn't more then 4500 pounds to be a mid 14 sec car, not 15 secs. Also after pricing out a loaded Grand Marque for $25,000 I thought they should be able to add the Marauder stuff for another $5000 at most. Oh well, maybe they will keep making it better, and not raise the price anymore. Plus too much cool Hemi stuff coming out of Chrysler in the next 4 years, if any of those rear drive Hemi cars end up in the under $30,000 range then I think that will be the way to go. Until then, the $26,000 Hemi Quad will have to get me buy! (Oops, don't tell my wife that, I promised to keep this next truck at least 5 years!)
