Just your typical ford b!tch right there. Anybody else notice that Ford cant make a fast car without supercharging it? (Lightning, Harley, New Cobra) Not to get me wrong, the lightning is a nice ride but its funny that Fords answer to everything is frickin' blower. And for the record id take a Harley F-150 over a Lightning. The Harley actually has some style and comfort. The lightning (although fast as hell) looks like a shoe. Plus, I see more Lightnings around than R/Ts. They are a dime a dozen. -Just my .02-

i hate ford's styling :the lightening's wheels,
and taillights suck.i think the lighning is just a work truck on steroids.the only people i see with lightenings around where i live are grandpaw's,that never had anything fast when they were young.

I guess that's all the brain power you can a Ford. I like that new heated tailgate option on the Lightenings so you can keep your hands warm when pushing it to the garage.
Don't forget that the SRT-10 is on its way and Ford will never be able to build anything close to competing with that truck...Have a nice day....

I had a ford truck once ( 1992 F150 ,all the options)
The dealer had it every 20,000 miles to put a new trans in it . I sold it at 79,000 with a rod knock when cold and the trans was slipping again!!!!! it rattled groaned and ran rough from day one.
My brother had a ford truck that was nothing but problems.
I drive a company van to and from work and it's a piece of junk , oops, I mean Ford.
The last two Dodge trucks I owned were sold at 245,000 & 280,000 miles with no repairs costing more than $250.00 and they never left me on the side of the road !!! they are still on the road.
I'd rather push my Dodge than drive a ford!

Ford is'nt all bad , My wife has a '03 Grand Marquis LSE and I love that car. But I'll never own another Ford truck.
By the way , my Dakota has a one & one record against SC lightning's.

I wanted a Lightning when I bought my truck, but like the R/T, you can't get one with a manual tranny...
They are over-priced as well.

I live in Dallas so I'm around alot of Lightnings and hangout at car shows w/ some of them...and 3 of them have had problems w/ theirs due to the supercharger. Add a boost to an engine and you eventually have problems.
I've stomped a mudhole in 2 Lightnings and I don't need no stinking blower! haha
P.S. No nitrous either!

Anybody who blows off the F-150 Lightning when it comes to performance is stupid. In the right conditions with the right driver, a 2002+ Lightning will run the 1/4 as fast as 13.2 seconds. Of course, that figure is perfectly ideal as the 2002+ Lightnings out here in Las Vegas run about 14.0-14.2 in the quarter. Quite impressive from a factory truck.
However, trying to compare a $34,000+ full-sized performance-tuned truck to a $20,000 mid-sized N/A truck is like comparing apples and oranges. They just aren't the same class from the factory. It's like trying to compare the $24,000 mid-sized 5.9L R/T to the $17,000 compact-sized S-10 Xtremes. Just not the same class.
I think it's really stupid and classless for some internet troll to come over here and try to say 'nyah nyah' about Lightnings when you're talking about a truck that cost at least $10k (and in many cases much more than that) more than the vehicles you're putting down. We might as well be giving you the finger because the Dodge Viper can kick the crap out of a Lightning. More money, more speed.
I think the Lightning boys are just scared sh1tless because the new Hemi and SRT models are going to whup the living hell out of their precious little babies, and they're trying to puff up their chests and pretend to be bullies while they still can.
$34k+ for 380hp/450tq for a supercharged, intercooled, performance-tuned and forged internal 5.4L Ford vs.
$19k for 345hp/375tq for a N/A 5.7L Hemi Ram 1500 RC. I'll bet that $15k difference is going to lay a lot of ass-whuppin on that Lightning... The Fastman has already torn apart a 5.7L Hemi and said a Hemi with some light head polishing and intake/exhaust mods will crank way over 400hp.
Some other scary thoughts for Ford Owners:
6.1L Hemi. Coming soon.
SRT-10. 500hp/500tq NATURALLY ASPIRATED. Run and hide. Now it's Dodge's turn to lay the smack down for premium trucks.
I completely respect Ford Lightnings for what they can do for the factory. Their owners paid a premium price and got a premium truck, there's no doubt about that. But their typically egotistical views on who is the king of the road is going to come to a crashing halt very soon, and I for one am going to enjoy the carnage.

For one thing the FORD is running 330 cu in's and weights around 700 pounds more than a regular cab R/T. To make a R/T run in the mid to low 13's is going take a boat load of money and you still have a weak trans! With a small amount off money,the Lighting will run mid to low 12's all day long! Comparing R/T's to Lighting's is like comparing orange's to apple's!

Spongebob, last time I checked the Ford V-10 was a piece of sh*t. I don't care if you do put one in a Lightning, Ford will still have to put a Supercharger on it to make it keep up. Supercharger = Ford's remedy for the lack of power blues.

Ford doesn't always use a supercharger.
The limited edition Cobra R's they made a few years ago were cast iron 5.4 truck blocks, ported aluminum heads and a trick ass velocity stack intake. No Supercharger, no boost, 400 Horsepower. Not too bad!
As for me, I'd be thrilled to have a truck with a supercharger. I think it's cool to be blown!
If and when Dodge supercharges their trucks you wouldn't be complaining!
