Message: All depends on if you still have your stock cats in place. With the stock cats in place, no muffler (NOT DUMPED!!), it isn't too terribly loud. However, get rid of that stock cat or replace it with a high flowing and it will be much louder and raspier.
It's pretty damn loud and you could possibly get pulled for it. I don't know Maryland at all, but you would be violating any area's law about sound pollution. It would be loud enough for that.

Message: I wouldn't risk it. Get a muffler. They're too cheap to not have one.

Message: ive been running no muffler since the end of the summer and i love. It soon will be replaced with a spintech though because i am sick and tired of the engine light coming on because of it. Just put a muffler on it and put a cut out and it will be loud as all hell when you want it to be. Its an awesome sound and really turns heads but its your call.

Message: When I removed my third cat I went about a day with just headers and pre-cats. It wasnt as loud as straight headers but it was F*CKING loud. I absolutly loved it. The only reason I only ran a day like that was cuz my ears started ringing and I figured my health wasnt worth that much. But then again, i kinda miss it, by the way, can you speak up?

Message: It will sound like crap, well it will if you know what a strong eng. sounds like with uncapped headers. Very few engines sound truly good uncapped - a properly set BB chrysler sounds nice and I have even heard a few BB chevs that don't sound too shabby. Most small blocks just don't cut it IMO. Most sound better with the muffler on.
My Ultra flow has a nice sound to it, not a tinnee sound

Message: I had my muffler removed on my 4.7 Dakota and 5.2 Ram the day after I bought them. I haven't had any problems with either one of them. My Ram is a single cab, and it sounds great with 2-1/4 y out the back with 3-1/2in tips. I have 3in tips on my Dakota. 2-1/4 seems to sound the best overall, reguardless of tip size.

Message: I have no mufflers and a flowmaster high flow cat. My pipe just ends about 6" after the last O2 sensor. Sounds real mean!

Message: About two years ago I had the muffler on my '93 5.2/318 removed to see what it sounded like. It idled a bit louder than with the muffler, but when you took off from a dead stop it REALLY echoed off the buildings! Especially if you crammed your foot in it! LOL!! It sounded pretty awesome, but what I didn't like was that at speeds around 75 MPH and 2500 RPM's the reverb it created in the cab was so FRIGGIN loud that I could hardly hear my stereo with it turn all the way up! I kept the exhaust like that for about two weeks before my ears started to ring as well (like the guy's in the earlier post mentioned. hehe)so I took it to the shop and had a Flowpro 350 CFM muffler put back on it and dual "Y" 2 1/2 " pipes out the back. Now it still sounds pretty mean, but without the raspiness. It has more of a deep rumble to it now which I'm satisfied with. Next year I'm going to replace the 2 1/2 pipe with 3" and see how that sounds.
Good luck!
Mike
