Subject: Better Sounding Exhaust? IP: Logged
Message: Guys dont hit me to hard now, but could you put a new Mustang muffler from like a Ford dealership on one of these Daks with the 4.7's to get it to sound near a GT? I mean I know it will be different since we got only one pipe and the got duals but wonder what it would do?

Message: Just put a flowmaster muffler on there, it is the same as the mustang and sounds real close to the stang. You can get them at most mufflers shops without the inflated dealer cost.

Message: What do turn-down tips do to the sound? My guess is less, but I have no idea. Does anyone know the answer?

Message: If they are a clean turn it should not really change the sound, it will rumble the ground a little.

Message: those 4.6 mustangs cry when they feel me
blow by them on the freeway. At about 75-
80mph, the exhaust is intensely (if thats a real
word) loud! My advice, get a single chamber,
or straight through muffler, I chose Dynomax
race series welded (6"round 21"long) I had
the local exhaust shop mandrel bend me
some 3" pipe, and man, alarms are going off
in every direction! And not too mention the
performance difference compared to my old
40 series 2chamber flowmaster. I'm thinking
about removing the 3rd cat, but I am still not
sure if its a cat or a resonator. I need to be
able to pass emmissions (California) I also
added a megs cone shaped 3" to 4" tip.
Jegs.com had everything at a great price, I
think parts alone were less than $100 and the
3" pipe, well that depends on the shop, but it
cost me about $115. for about $215 you cant
find a nicer sounding/performing exhaust for
less.
good luck!
