The Dodge and Toyota engines shouldn't really be noticably louder than the other. There are a lot of factors to take for consideration.

They are both 4.7 engines, so the rumble is probably pretty close. The only difference is the Toy is a DOHC.

I noticed for the 2003 year, Toyota still doesn't have the option for a RC Tundra w/ the 4.7. And the 4.7 doesn't come with a 5 spd either.

Tundra = eaten alive by Dakota.

I had a Tundra race me once from a red light. I would've beat him if I had realized he was racing about 5 seconds earlier and/or I didn't have to make a right turn shortly :)

I found out the hard way that TRD has a S/C for the 4.7L IForce V8. Tried to take one on with my N/A 4.7L and he walked from me from start to finish. Of course, at the time of the race I couldn't hear the whine(in other words I was duped into racing him), but when he hammered it, I knew I was in trouble (either that or he was going to lose his rear end :)~ Either way, it was a pretty good looking truck. All black with some type of black matching wheels and a turndown exhaust system. Shaved emblems and such as well.

I get to drive a Dak and a Tundra TRD on a regular basis. I like the inteior space that my Dak has over the Tundra. The seat does not go as far back in the Tundra and the steering wheel does not go as high up either. I like how much more refined the ride and power train is in the Tundra. The inteior is whisper quite compared to our Dak and it just feels more solid. I like the performance of our Dak better though and our radio sounds much better. The Access cab Tundra while it is a bigger truck then our Dak feels smaller inside. I am 6'2" and am a pretty big guy and I have three boys. The Tundra just did not fit my family as well and it was about $4000 more then my Dak Quad Cab. My Mom loves hers and I have to admit if Toyota had a true quad cab Tundra and better priceing I would have one right now!! I really like my Dak but you can feel the quality difference the second you drive the Tundra. MY Dak already sqeaks and rattles at 21,000 miles while my Moms Tundra with similar millage still does not sqeak or rattle.
