Subject: 93 5.2 V8 poor heater output IP: Logged
Message: Hey Dodge fans! Been looking for some insights here on the heater in my truck. Last winter my heater practically stopped putting any hot air out. The thing used to cook a person out! Does it sound like the heater core suddenly plugged or something? The temp gauge on the dash seems to be in the correct zone or maybe a little on the cool side. Is this a common problem on early 90's Dakota's? Wondering if a backflush could cure it?
Any suggestions or feedback welcome.

Message: Mine seems to be nuclear powered. Try touching the return hose from the heater core after trying to run the heater. If it aint hot, but the input hose is then the core is blocked. If both hoses are not hot then the block is probably where the input hose attaches to the block. I would try this before I back flushed.

Message: There might be a cable from the temp control to the regulator valve that controls the flow through the core. If its broken or fell off, it wont allow flow through the core, so no heat. It may be electronic control but im not sure. I can check my manual for my 91, to see how it is connected and I can reply tommorrow.
