Subject: IAC device function IP: Logged
Message: Could someone please tell me the function of the IAC Device & what the possible damage could be done if the plunger is slightly rotated, I cleaned this and possibly turned it some.

Message: it controls the idle speed of your truck. you should be ok if you only spun it alittle. if your worried about it go to autozone and get a new one, they're only around 30 i beleive. the iac stands for (idle air control)

Message: If you only turn it a little you have nothing to worry about.
IAC= Idle Air Control motor It allows idle air to bypass the throttle blades. That way it has total control over how much air is going into the engine, allowing it to control idle speed. It is kind of a controled vacuume leak.

Message: Hey Thanks guys! I found this web site about a month ago and what a very valuable resource it is!!! I've done porting of TB, K&N intake, TPS was off .5 volt, some time in the coming week I've a gibson 3" exhaust & electric fan coming, and as able I will continue improving.
I've a 99 5.2 cc 4x4 70,000, And 100% AMSOIL SYNTHETICS, engine, tran, rearends, tranfer case, and all grease points, I've been useing these for 30 yrs in every thing I've had/have right down to the the lawn mower, I Plan to post a mesage and explain the benifits I've found especially The tranny!
