Baldwin B2-HPG is the same as Amsoil SPF15. It is a synthetic glass fiber filter. It can be used as an oil filter or hydralic filter. THe shoter size is B34-HPG I belive. IT will out perfor the Mobil-1 and is cheaper. This post was removed earlier. Why anyone would censor it is beyond me? I think Amsoil prefered customers get these for $7 but I do not know what baldwin distributors sell them for. It can be used with conventional or synthetic. To get any better filtration you would need to go to a bypass system. Remember that to keep Amsoils warranty in effect with extended drain intervals you must use only their products includeing the tri-guard filter system so this information is primarly for non-prefered customers.

sandman,
You were not "censored". Your original post is still on the "General Board" and now you are on the "V-8 Dakotas Board", and I responded to the original post this morning.

I'll add my 2 cents....

1) after researching cross references for several years - I have come to one large conclusion: I don't beleive in matches until I lay my eyes on both (or should I say "in" both). I have torn apart SDF-15's, but not the Baldwin B2-HPG ... can you tell me about the Baldwin B2-HPG. Where is the by-pass valve. I know the B2 could physically match (externally) ...but the guts?? HPG = HP glass? I'll have to check that out.

2) The Amsoil Trigard program applies to going beyond the 25/35K interval (or 1 year) by using 1) Amsoil Air Filter, Amsoil Full Flow Oil Filter and Amsoil By-Pass Oil Filter 2) Amsoil Synthetic Oil and 3) Oil Analysis. It has nothing to do with warranty of the product and using Amsoil at Amsoil recommended change intervals.

I will tell you once I cut it open.I just put it on the truck. According to Baldwin it is a direct cross for the Amsoil SDF15. It also meets the Sever Service Group you refered to by Baldwin with the synthetic media that they use in the SDF line. I figure that Baldwin ought to know what their filters cross too. I am mostly concerned(filter media) with efficency, total capacity, flow and can strength. I know that it has a 8 PSI bypass I but can not tell you where it is at. I did qualify my statement about warranty with the following ( with extended drain intervals you must use only their products ). I did not want anyone substituteing Baldwin for Amsoil in an attempt to save money if they were going to use your product for extended drain intervals. The purpose of my post was to give those people that choose not to use Amsoil products the best filter for their money that is available everywhere and is price competitive!!!!So far the saveings is not that great over what prefered customers enjoy. I can get the Baldwin B2-HPG just about any place for $6-$8 dollars depending on quantity. It is still a better price and filter then Mobil-1. I am sure that any questions about it could be answered better by Baldwin. I do not have direct access to Tech. Support. I would hate to screw something up acting like a middle man. I did alot of research for the group and just did not want it to go to waste.

I apoligise(sp) for multiple post. I thought that the information I posted had been censored. I did not want all the time and energy I spent looking for a substitue for the excellent Amsoil SDF filter's to go to waste. I know that their are alot of guys on this site that barely scrape by each mounth but want the best they can get. So I searched until I found what I think is the same filter or darn close. They are $6-$8. I thought that all of us would like a filter that is cheaper then the Mobil-1 and even better performing. I did not do this to be negative in any way to the Amsoil sponsor. I know alot of guys will not use Amsoil for various reasons. This was supposed to be helpful to the group not flame anyone. So if I upset anyone that was not the intent of the post.
