Message: how are you going to put 2 mufflers off a y- pipe? it would have to be an x-pipe right?

Message: I think he means he'd be splitting it back into 2 pipes after the cat by using a y-pipe...

Message: Darcy has it right, a Y-pipe splits the exhaust in two. But No, it won't be any louder than one. Plus, on a performance stand piont you won't even be releaseing enough backpreasure to make a gain in HP. Not to mention it's a B*tch to try and fit two mufflers and have them straight. You would have to turn the mufflers on their side and maybe take a exhaust hanger and weld them together. Basically, not worth the money or time. Now TRUE duals would be a different story.
