Subject: 4.7 stalling IP: Logged
Message:
I have a 00' 4x4 w/4.7 AT and 50k miles. This weekend I installed a set of 100 watt off-road lights which required disconnecting the battery. Since then everytime I come to a stop the motor stumbles and usually stalls. I have re-checked and 100% sure I didn't knock something loose when running the wiring for the lights. I believe it has something to do with disconnecting the battery.
Has anyone seen this before??
Any ideas or suggestions before I take it to the dealer???

Message: give it a good 300 miles to straighten itsself out. When you disconnected the battery you reset the PCM. The PCM now has to relearn everything including your driving habbits. Everytime my PCM gets reset mine acts funky also until it relearns.

Message: I have about 60 miles on it so far.. it seems to be getting somewhat better, but still stalls occassionally.. I would have to say that this Dakota has been my favorite truck so far.. And all I've ever driven has been trucks..

Message: Thought I'd finish this thread up if anyone might be interested. Took it to the dealer and they kept it for 3 days. It turned out to be a cracked o-ring in the primary transmission filter. They replaced the o-ring, both filters, tranny fluid, and upgraded code on computer. Truck now runs great. I am getting better 2nd gear shifts than I've ever had since I bought it new.
Looks great.. Dealer also advised against high performance computer chips. Said they advance the timing causing you to purchase high octance gas. If not the motor spark knocks and can cause damage...

Message: Try running colder plugs and then using 93 Octane gas :) No more knocking or damage.
