Subject: Just Bought 2000 4.7L Club Cab
IP: Logged

Message:
After 6 months of looking to replace my 94 Dakota Club Cab I just bought a used 2000 Dakota Club Cab with 4.7L, auto, 4wd, towing package, LSD Diff.

I love the power of 4.7L. The V-6 in the 94 just didn't have enough power to tow my 20' CC boat.

The truck has 48,000 mile and has been very well maintained. Any advice as to what I need to look for as far as do and don't for this truck?

Thanks for any advice!

U basically have the same truck as me, except for the LSD (wish i had). The cheapest little things u could do is buy a Robert Shaw 180 T-Stat from AutoZone, Autolite 3923 Spark Plugs gapped at 0.35, and an air intake. When i first bought my truck i noticed i had a stumbly idle, after i installed the 3923s and Intake and switched over to full synthetic oil it went away. I havent installed the T-Stat yet, i think im just going to wait for Spring/Summer. Also, after i installed the 3923s, i noticed my truck to be a little peppier and didnt notice ANY Mpg decrease.

Another good mod for these 4.7s are the HO Cams... from what alot of 4.7 owners up here have said, its the best bang for the buck, and ISNT to expensive. I dont know to much about these cams, so if u have questions about them, just post them up here and im SURE someone with them will tell u some info!

PS: I know a guy that makes quality custom intakes at a really good price that WONT break ur wallet. If interested, his member name is "nitroussteve"... search for his posts about the intake.

Mods: Alpine CD Head Unit, Pioneer 3-Way 6 1/2 in the Cab, Home Brew Grille(soon to be silver with clear coat), Autolite 3923 plugs, Custom Air Intake (blue fading into silver), GunMetal Black Altezza Taillights, Switched over to Mobil 1.
Next Mod: Performance Accessories 3
