I GUESS THE 4.2 V6 IS ALSO FASTER THAN THE 4.6. BECAUSE MY 4.7 DAKOTA OUT RAN MY BROTHERS GT IN THE 1/8 LAST SATURDAY. I RAGED HIM PRETTY HARD SO NOW HES GOING TO GET 3.73 GEARS. MABY I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NICER.

My work truck is a 98 F-150 4.6 V8 CC 4X2, it's a not a bad truck. When it's out of the shop, massive electrical problems.
I own a 2000 Dakota 4.7 V8 CC 5spd 4X4, there's a night and day difference between the both. The Ford has a very smooth torque line, it seems like it takes forever to go.
My Dakota just nails you into the seat, for a 4X4 it's very powerful. The Dakota would run circles around the F-150.
I suggest you take one for a spin, and the driver of the Dakota should get more sleep.

I used to drive a 4.2l stx 5spd it was my dads worktruck/my vehicle trust me my pegleg 4.7 3.55 is quicker and I have 0 traction.

Guys don't let it bug you,ohnh is a friend of mine , he lives down the street. He was just tryin to get a rise out of us 'caus he really wanted a Dak!!! He told me at work today about doing this. He IS kidding,I will post the results when we find the time to race for real,but I think we all know who's gonna win!!!
He is a good guy,he's fixed my computer more times than I can count,and he's helped me with fixin up the house too,so don't rag on him to much. He bought a Ford...so we know he's suffering enough!!!

um daks cost the same as all the other small pickups (start at 13,000)they just can go over 30,000 but thats with QC 4x4 5.9 V8 loaded leather amoung other things
u can get a 2wd v6 for like 15 and a V8 for like 15.590 they are not a lot more then toyotas or fords or even chevys and they are bigger, better looking, faster and more solid

Phillip, come on, not to start an argument, but youre 4.7 Dak wont out-run a Mustang GT.
My brother in law has a 2000 GT 4.6 5spd and it just flat hauls ass. I've driven the 4.7 Daks, Great trucks, and we all love 'em or we wouldn't be on this site.
Youre truck can't be stock. not to beat a GT.
4.7 245hp vs 4.6 260hp in a car that wieghs 1200 lbs less. Motor/Tend has the 0-60 time for the stang at 5.1 sec.

His is an auto and traction control. The traction control slows him down a lot at the start line. He also had a bad reaction time. I got good traction,and had him good at 60 feet,but he was right there at the end. If it would have been a 1/4 mile track he would beat me prety bad.

Stock 4.6L Stang running 5.1 Seconds HA! Maybe that Super Charged Cobra version. A normal GT runs 6.2 to 6.3 0-60MPH. 1/4 in 14.3? The Bullets are just a hair faster running 14.2 14.1's. Now the Cobras only run 5.8's 0-60 and still only 13.9's 14.0's 1/4's.
Dodge needs to make some normal sport cars to shut up the 4.6L Stangers. Maybe call it the Dodge Diamond Back with rear wheel drive 4.7L HO with a 6 speed. Weighting in around 3000lbs. What about a Diamond Back S with a 5.7L Hemi :)
It's sad when sport car can be compared to a trucks performance.

Ok I just read the first couple of statments. But here is the deal. I had a 4.2 v6 w/ 3.92 in the rear end. Yes it was a stick. I now drive a 4.7 auto w/ 3.55 and my last truck was definatelly faster off the line. Now @ speed my new truck is faster. Just thought I would let you guys know. of course I haven't raced them side by side or taken them to the track. OH!! forgot to mention first truck 4x2 regular cab 2nd truck 4x4 QC *just abit heaver* it was never stated originally what trucks or gears were used. Also how did he know that that DAK had a v8? The 4.7 doesn't have the v8 emblem on the side of the truck.
He could be correct.. but you could also make it so one truck WILL beat the other.

Knobbyman,it was a joke!!!!My friend,ohnh,was kidding around..the race has not happened..yet!!! And the 2000 Dak does have a v8 badge on the side,the 2001 and up do not. I know,I have a 2000 4.7 and it is badged.
Rest assured..when the race does occur,I will post the results here. Also both trucks are stock(engine wise) and my Dak is a cc auto 4x4 , his is a standard cab 5-speed 4x2 Ford f-140.

well too start i own a 99 5.2 4x4 CC SLT I LOVE IT. it is rated at 230HP 300LBS of Foot torque the next gen v8 no disrespect but the last time i heard only had 5 more ponies at the loss of 5 lbs of torque. Chris W says 245 horses. i would rather have more torque.

as far as mustang verses dakota I also have owned quit a few mustangs 4 bangers 6 cylinder and V-8 ther is no way in hell that a low mod dakota (mybe an 5.9 R/T)would beat a Mustang GT I know I race my friends 95 5.0 HO(225HP) all the time. My mustang is a weak little 145HP 96 V-6 and the only thing my truck has on it is off the line thanks to 4x4 and top end all mid range power belongs the the wimpy V-6 mustang (top end because the mustang fuel cut off happens @118mph)

DODGE SUCKS, my old 89 oldsmobile toro trofeo beat any 5.2 durango, my 95 4.0 aurora wastes my friends 5.9 durango, and i can go 140 :), my dads 5.3 sierra even beat the 5.9!

ohnh, the reason they're priced alittle bit higher than the compatition is because the Dakota always wins quality awards. Have to pay alittle extra if you want durability I guess.
