Subject: Distributor-bucking, intermittent firing IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1992 318 and I'm experiencing what I believe to be a distributor problem. My truck idles fine but while driving at a constant speed, it will huck and buck and have intermittent firing. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, rotor, and cap(I went through 3 different caps each one giving worse proformence before settleing for one that is still giving me problems). Any suggestions? Thanks for your comments

Message: My 1992 Dodge Dakota dies on me while I'm driving down the road. The one time it died near a mechanic shop, he said it wasn't firing. But when we went to put it on the computer, the thing wouldn't die for anything. I have replace nearly every part that mechanics have told me to, the next thing is the computer. Will this help? or is there something else I can replace?
Thanks,
Jessie

Message: I have a 99 4x4 with a 5.2. I had the same things happen to mine. The first problem with the bucking was caused by the TPS. Because the sensor went bad it was telling the trany to down shift as if I just floored it then up shift just after even thought I was holding the throttle still. 56.00 for a new sensor and all was fine. A few weeks latter the truck would stall out for no reason, most of the time it happened when slowing down for red lights or just after I put it in gear. I found out I had a bad IAC valve. 50.00 for a new sensor and all is well. Hope this helps.
