Subject: '97 Dak 'clicks' IP: Logged
Message: OK, this is a strange problem..
I have a '97 with the 5.2L(318) and all accessories. First I was having trouble with the
AC compressor(noise) and put a shorter belt on
to bypass the AC. Then to 'debug' a charging
problem, I removed the alt. so it could be tested.
Tested oK so reinstalled the alt. Now the problem
there is a randon 'clicking' noise, if you watch
the crank pulley, when you hear the 'click' the
belt draws tighter around the pulley. The belt
is not loose. When I first put the shorter belt
on, everthing was fine, this started after I R&R'd the alternator. As a test, I ran it a few
minutes without the belt, no 'clicking'.
Dak run great, just annoying noise.
Any ideas ???
Thanks - gunslinger

Message: How 'bout water pump or ps pump? Wouldn't think it would be ps pump, most likely water pump, but then again it could be something else entirely.
