Subject: Anybody know of the cheapest Paxton deal IP: Logged
Message: Here's the deal. I'm just about ready to purchase again. In about 2-3 weeks the funds will be met.
I've done so much shopping on these things it's pityful...REALLY...
Here's some findings
JMEperformance..$3,700
Speedtweaks.....$3,750
KRC Performance..$$3,8??
superchargersonline..$$3,799
JDSperformance.....$3,675 <------ BEST PRICE
truckperformance, others all priced about the same. Ordering online...No sales tax, and most will pay the freight on the chargers.
Does anybody know of any cheaper?????? Any rebates other than Paxton's $100 good through November 30th?
Anybody want to try to see if we can get a group buy going?
I am referring to the NOVI-1000 4.7 kit.

Message: I'm with you notchlx, I'm almost ready to buy
the paxton (as soon as the insurance
settlement comes) I'm still amazed that a
supercharger costs almost 4 g's for this damn
truck.
BTW...has anybody heard of someone
running the novi 1000 on their dak? I talked to
a guy with the kit on his stang, and it was
killer. definately a quality piece, but $3700 is a
lot of cash.

Message: "D"
I found somebody who has a Dakota with the kit. He's in Washington, works at a dealership. The install went smoothly he said, however, everything after that went to POT. The thing blew 2 intake gaskets, and blew a head gasket.
He said they were having problems with the air/fuel on it with the aux injectors in the kit. It was more or less running lean on the top end in a big way.
They are making some changes this week, and he will get back to me when the changes are made.
Not very happy with the kit right now, but he's optimistic. He didn't say he changed the pulley on it for more boost, however, he did say he pushed it harder than he should have.

nitrous on my dak ( he's getting a new taco),
but I would much rather have the power all the
time : )
notchlx...I was hoping the install was easy, as
I am not too mechanically inclined (automotive
that is) I wonder what he did to push the dak
too hard? I'm guessing you have to be
pushing it real hard to blow a head gasket at
5-6lbs of boost.

Message: This is Ryan from Performance Injection, www.performanceinjection.com
All those prices are in teh average ball park of what is good for that kit. The kit includes a seperate computer for uaxilary injector control that Fords do not use. That is what runs the price up on it.
But yeah, any Dodge kit is far mre expensive than a Ford kit, and it is the method of engine control that makes it that way. Fords are easy to tune and tweak to compensate for the necessary fuel, while Dodge requires more equipment to achieve the same goal.

Message: Ryan,
Still one can dream of a better price.
I hate that. I could get a Powerdyne "installed" on my 91 Mustang for $2,300.00..
Holy Crap this is outrageous. I'll break the bank doin it, but I'm trying not to leave any stone unturned.

Message: Unless the fuel system sucks balls on that Paxton set-up or unless the guy tried for 14 psi on the 6psi fuel system, I can't undertand how he "blew gaskets all over the place" on the 4.7 motor.
Duner's hit 12 psi (sure, it's intercooled and he's flodding it with fuel) but 12 psi of pressure is 12 psi of pressure is 12 psi of pressure. Nothing's failed on his except for the poor over-driven injectors. Hmmm.....
Maybe just buy the head unit and then piece together a Duner-style fuel system? And that's just an inline pump, a Vortech FMU and 24# injectors. When he wants to go more than 7 psi on boost, he just puts race gas in it.....

Message: D, what happened to the taco?
alex, the boost doesent blow gaskets (up to a point), its the detonation that will get you.

Message: Found out..... he was running everything that was supplied in the kit, but changed the pulley and was pushing 10lbs. of boost.
I'll get more details over the next few days.
I can guarantee you this......As soon as I get the kit put on, I'll be carrying it to the dyno, and have it hooked up to the wide-band....
Air/Fuel......Must be good.

Message: So, if they were "trying to kill it" and 10 psi did it, then what provisions will we need to run 10 psi, like say, at the track?
Will "good gas" cover the problem? Were they getting belt slippage at 10 psi?

Message: I would recommend sliding in a set of at least 24lb injectors. For running 10lbs. Actually it may cause some driveability problems when not in boost, so I'm not so sure? You would need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and definitely a fuel pressure guage in the cab to monitor things under boost. Changes would prolly need to be made to the computer as well?
Anybody can jump in with suggestions.
