Message: I have a 2002 R/T with dumped 40 series Flowmaster, home brewed intake, and lakewood traction bars. Other than that stock. I want to get an M1 but I'm afraid that my low end will suffer????? Also will it work with my current mods or do I need new TB, injectors, headers, removed 3rd cat any suggestions????? I still want to get 15+ MPG out of her will the M1 affect it. What kind of HP and TQ gains can I expect? Thank you for any Information.

Message: I will do what I can to help. I have the 4bbl M-1 so my impressions are off. My m-1 lost about 35ft/lbs. but, the Mopar PCM recovered most of that. I still have the stock t-body, but it is modded (airhorns cut, smoothed the openings, and s-bolt). The headers didn't really help because they didn't come with down pipes. The injectors I added because of the blower. You should get the M-1 2bbl. with a large turtle. You will still lose a little low end but the pay off on top is worth it. I never from day one got 15MPG always got 13. The M-1 itself shouldn't effect the MPG just keep your foot out of it. As for gains I don't know my M-1 gained about 12rwhp and lost about 35rwtq. Hope that helps some.

Message: Here's my $2000-$3000 opinion,
I've tried a few combos so far and here is what I've used and what I have now.
FIPK2 K&N FILTER, F&B TB, MOPAR M1 2bbl, Lrg Turtle, Mopar 1.7RR, Mopar R/T 2.02 Heads, KRC206 Cam, Mopar Covers, Gibson Headers, Cut third Cat, Magnaflow mufflers, Autolites, 180 t-stant, JBL 9mm wires, IAT controller, Mopar lifters, timing mod. Plus a few other minor things. Mid 14's I needed a stall converter and custom PCM. But wasn't willing to spend any more money or hinder normal driven characteristics.
This is what I run now, (K&N FIPK2,F&B 50mm TB,Stock BEER KEG,KRC206 cam, 2.02 R/T heads, magnaflow mufflers, spiral muffler where the third cat was, timing mod, 180 t-stant, felpro head gaskets.
Want a good 1000-5000rpm power band, runs my current setup. 14.2@98 with RSA's no less that 2000 feet above sea level I'm sure 13's or 14 flat could be had with good weather at sea level :) Or removal of fiberglass cover and plastic bed liner.
Want a high rev power, use M1 2bbl(3600-6500), need KRC210, Custom PCM program, Long headers, stall converter for starters.
If anything Dodge parts are crazy overpriced! No good selection. Lets see Stock Dual plain intake or Single plain M1? We need a dual plain mopar intake with a good 1500-5500 range. Best bang for the buck is a Supercharger, which of course is more expensive for a dodge than any other brand like Ford or GM. I should run low 13's with a 6# boost. If traction permits. Want my advise on a specific product I used, just let me know.
Sorry for the long post.

Message: If you do the 2bbl M1 which I'm sure you will love, you will want to get a turtle for it as well. I gained 20 peak rwhp with the 2bbl M1, but lost 20ft/lbs of peak torque with it as well. But overall, I gained all around. At 5000RPM I was mkaing 40 more hp and 45 ft/lbs more torque than the beer barrel. This was all dyno proven. Peak numbers from a dyno don't tell the whole story. Ypou have to look at the whole curve. My power curves were much flatter with the 2bbl M1, and it didn't effect gas mileage at all as long as I kept my foot out of it. After the heads/cam install on road trips I was averaging almost 16mpg with some hill climbing.

Message: Thank you for all the suggestions. The M1 sounds pretty good but would it be a practical mod for a daily driver that sees just a little race time, or should I just keep the beer keg barrel ram. It seems to me that the barrel ram is the weakest link on the 360's power output, but I don't know if I'm willing to lose any low end for the M1. All responses are welcome. Please give me some more personal experiences with the M1 and your opinion whether I should get one or not. Thank you. BRENTON next time you see me I need to talk to you. Let me loosin up my truck a little more and I'll race you. Are you going to run true duals when you cut your 3rd cat off or just single? If I cut mine I think I'm going to run single. You me and Jeff need to go to Centerville. I want to see what she does. Later orion

Message: ORION,i heard of alot of people here saying that true duels helped them out but others saying that it just made it sound mean as he!!,so i don't know what i'll run yet but me,you, and jeff need to go early this saturday to find a place that will even touch that cat, alot of places wont touch it.i turned 12.90 at centerville but it might be closed already but i can find out.hey ya'll can talk to dakotademon about the true deuls i did....said they made it run alot better so i might do that, people said it sounded so mean no one would mess with them(lol).but you and jeff do know that the cat is more restrictive than the stock muffler is.

Message: TEXASLAWDAWG do you think you would lose alot of torque?because my friends have r/t's, i know there bad on topend, while the 4.7 is not.i have a 4.7 dakota cc and i wanted to run true deuls, pretty much because it sounds better but if a will possibly lose much torque at all i will not run true duels but will cut the 3rd cat and prolly just a flowmaster turndown

Message: BRENTON Ya i figured centerville would be closed but wasn't for sure. Well saturday mornng I'm going to be busy probably till 11:00 and then I got to work at 1:00 so I guess I won't be able to go. Next weekend I shouldn't be to busy but we'll see. 3rd cat is a bitch right above the crossmember. I don't know if we could find anyone to do it. I had to cut the one off the 4x4 dodge myself, that was fairly easy though. I'm sure the cat eats up quite a bit of potential power (needs to come off).I'll probably just run single(until more mods)if I cut it seeing as how my powerband ends at about 4500. I need the low end to beat all you high-revers. Me you and jeff need to get together and do some talkin, and maybe some more donuts. Hahaha

Message: midnightdak: I'm just going by what some of the more professional guys on this board have told me. Im in the process of tinkering with my 2002 R/T and have really picked the brain of several of the more knowledgable hot rodders on this board. They have all agreed that true duals help top speed, particularly on trucks with alot of engine mods (heads, cam, rockers, 52mm TB, M1 intake, supercharger, ect.) However they have also agreed that if the truck just has bolt-on mods (K&N intake system, maybe 50mm TB, headers, ect) basically a stock motor internally, the best bet is to stay with single exhaust to maintain low end torque. Ive read where several guys have said they lost there low end and the truck "boggs down" in the lower rpms with duels. One of the main guys on here told me that true duels wouldnt be beneficial until 100+ mph and above 5000 rpms. So from what I can understand, duels are for those who race their trucks.

Message: dont be afraid of low end loss with the M-1 2-bbl. For most its hardly noticable, the rush from 3000 rpm up is worth it. A large turtle gives back a bit of torque, and 24lb injectors give more power, and my milage went from 13mpg to 15+mpg with the injectors. Shorty headers like gibson or jba's are an easy install and add a bit of midrange power. This is not hearsay, I've done these mods plus others. Also porting your own throttle body is well worth the effort..
