Subject: Changing T-stat, hoses, fluid, etc IP: Logged
Message: Either tomorrow or tuesday afternoon I plan on installing a 180 T-stat, and replacing my radiator hoses that I noticed feel a bit soft, and the fluid since I'm coming up on 30k miles and plan to do a full tuneup anyway.
I was just looking in the service manual for the 4.7L about draining (just to see what it said, actually was looking up info on the T-stat) and it mentioned opening the cylinder block drain plug to drain the fluid--since I am removing the hoses and T-stat, do I need to bother with this, or would it all drain out when I remove the lower hose attached to the T-stat housing?

Message: Not all of it would come out, but you might as well drain and replace the fluid while you're at it.

Message: Autozone, Napa, and O'Reilly had no listings for my radiator hoses, wtf? Are these only dealer parts or what? I noticed the top hose has that filler cap housing built in and thought afterward, maybe it's listed under filler cap, but the bottom one had no record of existence in their computers, and I can clearly see that that hose is down there in plain existence :)
