Well, I did not mention that I was running drag radials with home-made traction bars. The times are true. I do realise that conditions are a factor and I have never been able to duplicate this time-best try was 14.6. If I were full of bull I would say that it could beat my honda civic but it can not. I have driven 5.9RTs and I love the torque but they are overpriced and overhyped for what they are even with mods. Now get some krc cams in a 4.7 and it will walk away from any equally built 5.9. The 5.9 is a TRUCK engine and will only produce good track times if it is built to do so with high compression pistons, ported heads and intake. Otherwise all of the look fast stuff like wheels, lowered suspension, loaded option list and horribly geared and unreliable auto trans just add to the already heavy "fast truck". My truck may not be the cool truck to look at but it will out accelerate any stock 5.9RT and that is a fact.

People also forget altitude and climate make different e.t.'s form one track to another.

We are at about 1100 ft at Speedworld on the North West AZ valley while if you go to San Diego, CA it's like adding a blower!!!

Go to Denver, CO and it's like you unplugged a cylinder or two compared to here.

I've heard since day one that some 4.7's bone stock have beat 5.9's in the 1/4 but I think they were all 5 speed manual 4.7 vs. the 5.9 auto

I've seen a totally stock 4.7 auto QC run low 15's at our track at 1100 ft. A RC 4.7 would come close to low 15's high 14's here, and most certainly in San Diego or the Gulf of Texas do mid 14's easy. So I believe it.

the R/T is fast but so are all the rest of the v8 dakotas.

i have beat my friends r/t both times we raced.
i had a intake, flowmaster muffler

he had
headers, shift kit, a rebuilt 360 that is really a 366ci. 7k on his motor 7k on his trans.

my truck at the time had
158k on motor and trans.

i think the 4.7 would have a great chance of winning and most likely a better chance than a 318ci dakota.

LMFAOOOO. Nothing but a bunch of no life bums on this website worrying about their crappy trucks. I own a '99 Dodge Dakota R/T that will take any so called "Sport" model Dakota in the damn world! Also I've taken every Mustang GT that has ever dared cross my path on the damn road.

*Been driving since I was 10. I'm only 16. I know more about cars than anyone on here ever will. I'm all ready a mechanic and certified disel mechanic. Not only do I own the Dakota but a long line of classics including '68 Chevelle SS, '68 Impala, etc... Too many too list. If you want proof, e-mail me.

I got a 4.7 QC auto.
My brother had a 5.9 in his durango.
I had a few chances to drive it down the highway. Alot longer to accelaerate from higher speeds and to spool up the engine.
It is a more powerful engine. Just not as fast or responsive as the 4.7L
