Message: ok the 5.2 is a fine motor have one in one of my Rams... But the ONLY WAY your gonna get a 5.2 in anything down into the 10's or 9's is gonna be slap an 8-71 on top of it add about a 300 shot of NOS and stuff it all into a GEO that weighs 1800 pounds. Then pray to god that you dont meet him halfway down the track. 1/4 mile in mid 9's is gonna cost you about 700 or so horse in that truck. All motor (maybe if you have 2 of em)...

Message: Up until this weekend my little 4.7 Auto could
only keep up with some stock or litely moded
R/T's. I can't drive for $hit, but I ran a 14.90 @
91.6 mph with a 2.237 60' time. So the 4.7's
are getting faster as the mods are coming
available. With Marty's cams and heads the
4.7 Auto should be in the low 14's.

Message: I drove an 03 reg cab dakota, 2wd, 4.7 and a 5spd. DAMN. thats all I got to say. I drove a dakota rt, and this 4.7 would walk all over it. now I got a dilemma, do I buy the 5.2 or a 4.7, and when exactly did the 4.7 come out. Which motor is easier to modify to make it quick. even though the dakota I drove will walk over my ram 318 that I slightly modified (mostly cause of the 4:56 gears in it) any more info will help.

Message: I spoke with Two Dealerships recently and both said the 5.9 will be phased out in favor of the hemi. It doesn't take a geinus to see that 100 more horses and better mileage is the way to go!

Message: ttdakota, I think you need to take a look at Dodge's site. Also, take a look at what Dodge has plans for in the future.

Message: ruha, comparing test driving a 5-s[eed anything to an auto anything is aples and oranges. Even with less hp to the wheels, the 5-speed will feel stronger because you can rev it high before you shift it, and usually the gearing is a little lower in a manual tranny. Granted, the 4.7 5-speed is an awsome combo and comparable to a R/T, but "walk all over" an R/T, I doubt it will do without some mods.

Message: The only reason the 5.2 was replaced with 4.7 is so the service department could stay busy cause the 5.2 don't break.I put 30 bottles at a 150 shot through mine and motor was still strong. My friend has been through 3 4.7 in a year with a 6lb boost sc. You can't beat the 5.2. You better hope that5.9 comes out of the hole good enouggh that the 5.2 don't catch it whe n rpm's come up. 5.2 230 hp 300lbs torque and industructable.
Whats better 340 same stroke with a little more bore.
