Message: i out ran a 2000 trans-am. it was kinda sad tho, with the chip shutting his motor off and his girlfriend dying...laghing. Why do sportscars have chips? (I really know why) it isn't much fun to buy a performance car and not go over 100. maybe why some opt for hondas. ???? hmmmm... oh, my buddy also beat a 2002 stang GT. in a ford probe. stupid chips! won some money tho...

Message: I'm not sure of what type of Chip you're talking about, but there is no chip that GM put's in the LS-1's to shut-down at 100mph.
Most stock LS-1's run 105-107 in the 1/4 mile (stock). I think top speed is governed at somewhere around the 150mph mark...
And what pray-tell were you driving when you beat this T/A?
Do you realize even the auto trannied versions still run 13's?
Probe does the 1/4 in what stock 16.0?
Mustang 14.0....... Stay away from the weed boy.
You need to drive a Honda, so we can smack that ass.
Peace:)

Phillip....I believe that's entirely possible.
I run 9.3's to 9.5's in the 1/8th depending on 60ft. I've seen plenty of LS-1's and GT's run high 9's... They are usually spinning, or they are launching at idle. I've taken a couple in the 1/8th, but never in the 1/4....This guy was talking about how he outran this T/A, at 100mph...B/S....Or granny was just toying with him, but you notice he hasn't replied to defend his honor yet either.
Phillip, by the way, what are you running with the juice? (ET, MPH)

Message: For an LS-1 to run a high 9 in the 1/8 it would have to spinning to the 330' or so . One of my good friends runs a '00 SS Camaro and with a 6 speed an 3.42's and was running 8.20's@86mph with 1.90 60's when it was stock. Now it has a 12 bolt with 4.10's , slicks , stronger clutch , .570" cam , ported heads , headers , bigger TB , and an Air Box lid and runs 6.90's@101 with 1.48 60's.
I don't like GM's but I have lots of respect for LS-1/6 cars - it's probably the best engine GM has ever made - they run pretty good stock and respond very well to modifications.

One 2000 T/A was running 11.75's in the 1/4 though. Pretty impressive.
Harley Davidson quad cab running 12.70's! 03 Cobra 11.80, my buddy finally ran a N/A 12 second pass in his 99 Cobra.
Very interesting day. Made me want a '03 Cobra in the worst way.

Message: it all depends on the climate, area and driver. Here, i have beat two different Z28's. One was on the street and we ran up to 100 mph(he let off after that) and the other at the track... i ran a 8.95 (1/8th) and he ran a 9.2. My other buddy runs 9.2s with his 99 Z28 (exhaust cutout, cold air, 6 speed). One night a guy with a 35th ann. SS ran a 8.8 with slicks, aftermarket exhaust.. and that's all that i could see.
"Without nos i run a low 8 so who ever said that stock ls1's run 9.5's" but doesnt that still leave you with a couple of bolt-ons, 12 bolt, and a 3500 stall?
8.2 bone stock? either a damn good driver or better measure that track.
as for the "with the chip shutting his motor off" comment..... I dont think so!

Message: The SS in queston also went 8.20's on a 12.95@109 run at the 1/4 mile track in my area - he is a pretty good driver too. The slowest stock LS-1 6 speed car I've ever seen was running 8.60's@82 - they run good enough stock that even a chimp could probably get one into the 8's in the 1/8.
Right now it really needs more gear if he's going to keep running the 1/8 with it - maybe 4.56's or 4.88's - it kinda bogs a little when you launch and is running through the traps in 3rd gear.

Mustangs do it too. If you're turning a 2.4-2.50 60Ft time it really hurts that 1/8th mile E.T.
Don't get your panties in a wad. This isn't a flame war. Just stating what I witnessed with my own eyes. (believe it or not)
I know the LS-1's capabilities, I have seen many deep in the 12's with minor bolt-ons.
8.80's seem to be what one guy in an auto trannied Z-28 ran all day long. He looked to have launched fairly well. The guy running 9.80's was in a blue Z-28, 6-spd...Now he spun badly in 1st and second gear, HOWEVER, he still ran a 9.80.... I wasn't saying he was an excellent driver. One more auto'd Z ran the 9.5's. I'm not CRAZY..It happens... Drivers produce all kind of different times.

Afterall it is a truck not a sports car. I can understand how people like to have a fast truck and that is the reason I got the 5.9 in mine...but to say you beat an LS1 T/A which leaves me seeing nothing but taillights at the track with my T/A is nuts.

Message: Once had a '94 Formula with LT1. Some models came with 2.73 gears and tires had no speed rating. The computer shut the gas off at 104 mph on those. This changed in years after that. I had a '98 Trans Am and now I have a '02 Trans Am. Both have a fuel shut off at ~155. I've never got there. Ran it last wednesday night (test-n-tune night) in stock form and got 1.94 sixty foot time. 1/4 mile @ 13.048 at over 106 mph. Just the facts. If Mr. drew can out run that then so be it.

Message: Are people so stupid anymore that they think the same type of car has to run the same. My friend has a 98 4X4 exactly like mine in everyway right down to the floor mats. The only difference was that it was black and a 98, mine is red and a 97. When they were both in stock form (a long, long time ago) we would race all the time and everytime i would beat him by about 2 trucks. We even drove the others truck and sure enough mine would still pull hard. Sometimes you just get a car that will haul balls and on the same note, some the same year, options and everything, wont fall out of a tree. I have seen a LS-1 run a high 9 in the eigth when i was runnin 9.5s. (before nitrous) and i have also seen the exact same motor dip into the high 8's. People need to realize that just cause a car has the same motor that came from the same factory dont mean its gonna perform the same!! I love to get stuff started with posts like this :-)

You say it's an auto so just get a 3500 stall, some spray (100 shot wet will do) and some drag radials or slicks (for track only) and you will be a low 7 or a high 6 in the eigth. 2002 is the fastest year stock.
