Hey guys. I'm about ready to do the next mod to my truck and am seeking advice from more experienced dak owners. It's been a while since I've been to the group because I just started in college a few months ago. Anyways, I've got a 95 dakota regular cab mildly built 318 3.55 open diff 4x2.

Ported & polished tb,
street/strip cam (can't remember specs)
1.6:1 roller rockers
Keith Black aluminum racing pistons (9.5:1 c.r.)
cat back exhaust system and a car sound cat
MSD ignition system, wires, cap, rotor 3923s
minor head work

I like the way the headers sounded on my old 6 but they didn't do much for performance. I also cant find a set for under 500 bucks. What do you guys reccomend for my next mod? I'd be interested to hear what you've done and what worked the best

TFX split rear exhaust (catback) 2.5 in and out x2
Don't know why but that's what the exhaust shop did

How does that exhaust system sound? I got it for my 95 6 cyl and it makes a mild buzzing noise thats annoying.

Get a set of 3.92 limited slip rear end gears to replace your 3.55 Open diff!

Best bang for the buck!

When I broke my 3.27 Borg Warner rear end in my GTA, I replaced it with some 3.73 and all I can say is OYEA.

It might only be .37 higher but the LSD will be way worth it, got to lay down the power before adding more.

The 3:92 locker is a good move. I had the 3:55 standard in my '92...big difference. If you are ruling out headers, drop in a set of '92 or '93 5.2 exhaust manifolds. They had a considerably larger inside diameter than '94 on up.

Wow, how did you guys dig this post out now? It started a few months ago.

Nick, the exhaust system I have on my truck now sounds pretty mean. It's kind of quiet by my standards, but then again I'm 19 and frequent the drag strip. It has a slightly rough idle due to the cam but the tone is really deep and most people that hear it think I have much more than a 318 in there.

When I had the six with headers, it sounded like a 318 with stock exhaust but louder when under power. I was pleased with it, it didn't sound like a ricer as most people seem to get with exhaust mods on the six.

I wouldn't think that changing from 3.55 to 3.92s would make that big of a difference. Alot of people that I've talked to say to jump up to 4.10's but that would probably be too much gear for high way driving. Especially considering that in my area most people cruise at 80mph.

I've been thinking about putting in an LSD anyways but haven't gotten much advice as to which brand I should get. Any advice you guys have would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
