Subject: MotorVac Problems!!!! IP: Logged
Message: I do not know if this problem is inherient to MotorVac process( never used this process as tech.) or if it is just Tech. error. I has seen over 20 engines this last mounth that exhibited evidence of high speed hydrolock while the top cylinder area was being cleaned with MotorVac system. most of the engines had less then 5000 miles on them but a few were high miliage. The dealerships were trying to offer these services as prevetive maintence. It has not been isolated to one engine design. I have seen it on the 3.4,3.8 and North Star series. I thought that I would pass this along to the group. While this process has some merit to de-carbon the top cylinder area it should not be used as a preventive maintence type service. It might also merit that any one that offers this service might want to perform this process at lower rpms. This post is for imformational purposes only. It is not intended to act as any type of case study........ i have not used this sytem but some on this board offer this service at their shop's. They might be able to offer some insight this. Please no flames!!!!!
