Message: This sounds like a trip to the dealer
for some warranty work. I've had a 5.9L
for 15 months now ('00 QC) and it rarely
knocks even on a hot day running 87 oct.

Message: Just my opion but driving a big V8 I always put at least 90 or higher octane in the engine.

Message: NeedForSpeed: the owner's manual specifically
says to NOT run higher than 87 oct. It doesn't
say why, and I don't see the harm. I do know of
other people (with other vehicle types) that say
running super was fine, but when they tried to
go back to 87, it knocked like crazy (maybe only
in their heads since the knocking could have been
gone with super).
