I would like to change the factory manual transmission lube in my 2001,CC, 2WD, 4.7, NV3500 dakota. The factory manual says to use only their lube. I don't like their lube!! I called the dodge parts guy and he can't tell me the lube weight. Does anyone know the weight? 75W-90 maybe? Is the weight on the bottle? Is this stuff synthetic? I am not opposed to purchasing a bottle to get the info I need and then returning it. I would like a lube that can improve the smoothness of the shift.

Its a 5-30 oil,I use the Amsoil HDD 5-30 and it works great also some people have had good sucess with the Redline MTL

I just ordered some MTL-90 today. I hope it makes a huge difference this winter! In real cold mornings I always had to shift very nicely or I felt like I was punching it in the face.

I am still a little confused though. Isn't the Amsoil HDD 5W-30 a diesel motor oil? I do like the fact that it smoothes out the shifting but, don't want to do any long term damage to the syncros and other parts. How long have you guys had it in the trans?
