Message: If you remove the cap where you put the oil in you'll probably see what i'm talkin about. It should be a brownish, yellow color substance in the tube. My friend is a mechanic and he said he sees alot of that but not sure what causes it or how to fix it.

Message: I saw that ugly brownish-orange stuff yesterday and wondered why the heck it does that. I would think that an oil-cooler setup would fix it completely.
I removed the clutch-fan and that seems to bring up the temp's a little which prob. causes that gas-off with a lower quality oil. I was even using Mobil 1, but just switched to AMSoil and it SHOULD stop doing that due to it's higher quality.

Message: I'd love to but don't have the cash for one as of right now.
If you removed your clutch driven fan you won't go wrong installing one (properly!). Even if you didn't remove it it will keep your oil cooler and raise the capacity a bit.
If ya got the cash find a good deal on a good one and go for it.

Message: The reason the 4.7 gets this water in the filler tube is because the filler tube is at a cooler temp than the engine (as it is basically free of the engine) this causes the water to condense on the inside of the tube and mix with a bit of the oil. It is normal. the more you drive the less severe it is.

Message: I have an 02 3.9L sixer in a CC 4x4 SXT with 3.92s and an auto tranny. I drive a total of about 60 miles a day due to work, it is split half and half between highway and stop/go driving. With an Intense Intake and dynomax single exhaust, I get 16mpg consistently. When I make long trips I have gone above 20mpg, think my best was 22mpg.
Basically the 4.7 appears to be at or better with more HP. My opinion is the 4.7 should be more efficient than the 3.9 or the 5.9, it is a newer technology engine...I would doubt you would want to bring out a new engine platform that did not improve on the older ones.
If you are really concerned about MPG, get the 4.7 in my opinion.
