I've been reading some old threads, and reading about the wonderful issues with balljoints and bearings and how much everyone loves them.
I've got a problem I can't afford to fix right now but wanna know how when I CAN afford to.
Two actually. I just rotated my tires last week, simple enough right? Now every time I turn right (I always drive with the windows down) I can hear a squealing from the front left tire, it literally sounds EXACTLY like tires screeching about 100 yards away (kinda faint, but screeching sound) but coming from my own front end. It does it even when I make right turns really slowly, so I know my tires aren't actually sliding. Could it be the sideways stress put on the bearings during a tight turn making them make that noise? And if so, they need replacing?
My other one is while driving, when I hit TINY bumps, so small that they just make the truck shiver a bit, I hear a really obnoxious squeaking from the front end. Can't tell which side it is on really, or both sides perhaps, but it isn't a constant squeaking, the squeaks sort of follow the vibrations from the small bumps. If I drive on a gravel road its CONSTANT little seperate sqeaks, like hundreds of mice under my hood. Don't know what the heck to think of this.
Any ideas for either? Won't be able to afford to fix anything for at least another week :\

Oh and also, even when I park the truck, get out, when I shut the door that same irritating squeak from my second topic is there, one abrupt squeak when the door slams, then silence again, will do it every time I shut the door..

your second noise sounds like the front sway bar bushings. Mine were squeaking like a mother, until i sprayed some silicone into them. It took a little while to work its way in, but got the job done. Others have actually losened the clamps to lubricate.
First problem... no idea.

I am kinda looking to see if anyone has any info regarding when to replace the ball joints and stuff in the front end. I have a 98 Durango 4x4 and an 02 Dakoto QC 4x4. I can really tell the diff between the one with 70K miles on the one with 3K miles in terms of front end feel, noise and tightness. I replaced the front sway bar busings on the Durango with poly urethane and that helps a little. You can't just loosed the brackets the sway bar and skid plates need to come down, but it isn't too difficult. It is worth a few bucks. Hope that helps.

i have a 98 dak cc 4x4/same noise even when i shut the door. My tires have worn unevenly for 18 months and when i take it to get aligned the say they cant find anything wrong. That is until now, it has been sqeeking for 3 wks. The problem is the lower contol arm bushings. Dodge will only sell the complete control arm, for a price of 300 and some dollars.Times 2 sides times every 30,000 miles.
$ 700 for 4 pieces of rubber
Does anyone know where to buy aftermarket bushings.
I have been able to find them for 4x2's.

I HAVE 02 DAKOTO I HAVE THE SAME SQUEEKING SOUND AND ITS GETTING WORST WHAT THIS WITH THE SILICONE .

my 99 dakota rt sqeeks like no other i turn heads when driving i made the mistake of using penatrating oil to lube bushings DONT DO IT WHEN IT DRYS IT CRACKS AND BLOWS UR BUSHING COMPLETELY i was told white lithium grease or silicone spray but by the time i was informed it was too late for me so b careful what u spray on bushings

I have and 01 durango and it has a
roring noise in the front end it sounds
like a mud tire sound but i got regular
tires on it any ideas it does it at all
speeds ive got new tires on it

I got a 99 dakota sport 4x4. 3.9L
If i put the truck into 4wd and start driving out of
being stuck or watever, as in not going that fast
its fine, but as soon as i start going like 20mph+
it starts making a whining sound coming from the
front end. It drags like a mother when i let off the
gas it will slow down more than normal I just put
like 3/4 of a quart of 75w-90 in the front diff and
it still does it. IDK if its a cv, or the diff or
wat. someone who knows their stuff plz help?
