Well some people say that if you put a heat shield it would help. The way I arranged my home brew intake, there is no need for heat shield. I will tell you what I did. First, I reposition the tranny control module and the PCM to where both of them ended up on the right fender wall. Then I reposotion the cruise control valve and put it inside the fender. So I ended up with enough space to put my groceries if I wanted to. So I position my K&N cone inverted filter all the way to the front right next to the radiator on that big opening so the filter is far away from the engine and well exept from being at a stop light, when running all the hot air flows to the back of the engine compartment and not the front.
