Here's the deal. Ran 10.2 in 1/8th at 69.99. I should be in 9's with that mph. Anyone got TRACK ONLY mods such as no filter, short belt, etc.

you did something wrong. I run 9.8's on street
tires, and I think that's pretty much average for
the 4.7 auto's. you have an R/T, with wider
tires shorter gears, posi, etc...maybe you
should baby the gas pedal off the line a little.

I have heard of someone pulling the connector for the alternator. That can free up some power, but its not good for your battery. Not sure if the battery puts out enough juice for the 5.9L to run at peak performance. I run about 18 psi in my rears and launch with 2.16 60' times, with a 5spd 4.7L. I've been doing pretty well, temps have dropped a lot, hoping to get down in the high 14's. There is a flap on your passenger side of the radiator, pull that off for fresh air intake. Spare and Tailgate are 100lbs. Some people fold their mirrors in but I doubt that does anything.

How about some info on the truck - is it a reg cab or club cab? , What have you done to it so far? , what kind of tires are you running? What are you're 60' times?
With A 69 Mph trap speed you should be right at 10.0 - maybe 9.90 with good traction on street tires.
Last time out with mine I ran a 9.82@72mph but had a 2.33 60' and it was 93 degrees with 85% humidity. I have a '99 2wd Club Cab - 4385# with a 318/A500/3.55's on 255/65/15 radials. I have an M1 ,14x3 open element, no cat , and a 2.5" Dynomax UltraFlo. First time I ran it when it was stock it was running 10.50's@65mph.

Running lower tire pressures on your street tires will actually slow down your times. I've got plenty of time slips proving my error before I knew it was an error. Drag slicks are fine to lower pressure, not street tires. You loose traction that way by decreasing the contact patch.

He's talking about the aluminum leaf spring bushings like the ones that come with the Cal-Tracs bars. That makes sure that no energy is lost due to the factory rubber leaf spring bushings flexing. They make the ride go all to hell, but so do the Cal-Tracs in the first place.
Another solution is replace all the bushings throughout the suspension with poly-urethane. That firms everything up pretty nicely but it's not harsh.

alex.. $hitty stuff about the heads.. apparently the marine corps has been paying me too much for the last 8 months.. so they decided they would just not pay me this month to make up for it. so i had to use almost all the money i had saved up for heads to pay bills.. now i have to save up again. :o((((( big time sucks i'm gonna get a second job to get the money faster. but it looks like it will be awhile. if i hadn't bought all that stereo crap i could've afforded it, but i didn't know they weren't going to pay me til it was too late. trying to sell some stuff i dont use too. 7 string ibanez electric.. amp.. boston acoustic components.. car amp.. etc..

Well, keep us posted. I'm looking for a set of junkyard stockers to port & polish.
As a matter of fact.... what will you do with your stock cores? I've found some around here for as little as $150 a head. Don't know if that's bare or assembled, though.
Maybe we can work a deal.
