Subject: Throttle Body Gasket IP: Logged
Message: Under tips and tricks on the Speedtweaks.net site, it says to put a new throttle body gasket on after cleaning the TB. How much do these cost from the dealer or can I buy it somewhere else? Oh, one more thing, where is the MAP sensor in relation to the TPS and IAC and what does it look like. I plan on cleaning my TB soon and want to make sure I know what I'm getting into before I start. Thanks.

Message: A new gasket is $2 from the dealer i think. I'm not sure which motor you have, but i'll give placement for the 3.9/5.2/5.9 . The IAC solinoid is at the back of the TB toward the cab. Clockwise from that (3 oclock) is the TPS sensor on the end of the throttle shaft. Clockwise from the TPS sensor on the TB (6 oclock) is the map sensor. You can tell which one this is because it plugs into one of the vacum ports on the TB.

Message: If you have a 4.7, the MAP sensor is located on the front of the intake manifold.

Message: Then again, if you have a 4.7 truck, then you dont' need a new TB gasket, either......

Message: thanks for the replies. I do have the 4.7L. Why don't I need a new TB gasket? Wouldn't it be best if I did replace it?
So, if I'm standing at the front of the truck looking into the engine, the TPS and the IAC are on the right side of the TB, right? If the MAP is on the intake manifold, will I need to remove it when I clean the TB? Thanks again for all your help.

Message: The intake manifold on the 4.7 has an o-ring instead of a throttlebody gasket. It's embedded in the intake manifold and it's reuseable. Unless you work really extra hard to mess it up, it should be just fine. It'll be baby blue.
As for removing the MAP sensor, I'm not sure if it's really necessary, but then again, I've not cleaned mine....
