I have a 5.2 l v-8. Just repolaced the a/c clutch but it won't work properly. What is the tolerance to shim the clutch? Clutch on right and getting power. What else could be problem?

What is it doing (or not doing)? Is it slipping? Not engaging at all? Need some more info.

The air gap should be about 0.4-0.8 mm.

Hmmm...

1) Why did you replace the clutch to begin with?
2) Do you know how to use a volt/ohm meter (multimeter)?

I replaced it because the bearings were going bad.Making lots of noise. I did test it with a meter and it seems to be getting power. I'm wodering if it's not shimmed properly as nothing is engaging when I turn the a/c on.

I replaced my compressor on a 2001 Dakota 4.7 V8 when a/c is turned on the clutch will not engage. The old one had a bad clutch so I just bought a new complete compressor. It stopped engageing a few days before the new one was installed. Freon is correct and pressure switch was jumped and it still wont engage. Any ideas?I have 8.5volts at the connection.

What switch did you run the jumper wire on?
How exactly did you do it?
