I got my truck used and was told there was no factory alarm on it. I just noticed that right by the fusebox, there is this

Looks an aweful lot like a siren to me, and I know it isn't the horn because those are up front. Is this thing a siren that's part of the stock security system? I was gonna try and install my alarm tonight, but now I am not so sure I wanna disconnect my ground wire as it might reset an alarm I have no remote to..

no, I have nothing of the sort, which is why I don't wanna risk resetting it and having no way to turn it off if it arms. In my service manual there's very little info other than telling me if I wanna arm, press the button on the remote. Thanks once again DC!

Not a siren, I don't know what model or year you have, but I have a 2001 CC 4x4 and I also have this, but mine has two vaccum hoses and a silinoid attached to the top of this.
I have a factory alarm, but factory alarms sound through the horn, not a siren.

I just went and looked again, and you're right--at the base of mine (not the top, but I'm sure its the same thing) there is a hose coming out the back....definitely not a wire :)
Now I'm curious tho and wanna know what this is! Good to know it isn't a siren tho, I was gettin worried I was gonna have to argue with the dealer to get it removed since I had no remotes.
