Subject: IAT sensor .. Should it be dirty

Guys ,

I was installing my homebrew intake .. got it installed .. was talking the iat sensor out and would that it was really dirty .. black on the top and lighter going down the sensor .. is this normal .. i did not think so .. i tried to clean it just with a rag .. am i going to have to open the manafold up ?? clean it .. almost like a oily substance on the sensor ..

2000 cc v8 4.7L manual ..

Just wondering what i should do .. ??

Mileage is fine ..

Mine iat sensor looked exactly same, with the oily substance on the sensor too.
I don't think there's anything to worry about.

I went to Crappy tire and bought a 1/4" brass plug. Look in the automotive section where they carry radiator stuff. You'll see a small section with all brass fittings and plugs. A pack comes with 2 brass plugs.

I had an extra plug but I gave it away to a fellow Dak owner.

.. after i left you the message .. i looked for a bolt in my garage found one from a old set of fogs and screwed it in .. it worked .. !!
