Message: I have a Question on my Trasmission leak i have experienced out of my 98 Dodge Dakota, V-6. I have found that the seal on the transmisson is leaking a bit and i plan to change the seal this weekend... but i was wanting to know if i should use the Mopar 7176 ATF Plus 3 fluid or can i go with the Synthetic from Mobil One. The trans. fluid that is leaking is just as red as can be(a good sing) and i was wondering if i could change the entire trans fluid to Mobil One. I know when i change the fluid, the Haynes Repair Manual i have said there would be about 4 qt. of trans fluid comming out on a drain and refill, is there any way i can get the rest of the 6 qt.or so out?
Thanx in advance yall..

Message: Mobil 1 does not recommend there fluid for our application. The only synthetic trans. fluid I have found that is suitable for Chrysler transmissions is Amsoil and/ or Redline. They both cost around $7-$8 a quart.

Message: I agree with Troy's post. I am useing Redline C+ATF in my Transmission and Amsoil ATF in my T/Case. So far so good. I have 8000 miles on the synthetic trans fluid.
